Anyone remember this awesome platformer? It was based on the animated cartoon.
It's very similar to the other Disney games that people fondly remember, like Aladdin and the Lion King. For some reason, though, this doesn't get the love that those games get...even though I actually like it much more. It's level design and gameplay is very similar, but it's graphics are AWESOME and the overall feel is so much better in comparison to those games.
Thoughts?

Ah, fond memories there. It was overlooked, much like the series itself, which was good as well.
Good game. I need to sit down and play it again.
I just recall SCREAMING at it for being so goddam frustrating for a "kid's game"! I had a tough time where you have to climb up/jump back & forth between 2 tower walls as fireballs are shot horizontally at you.
IIRC I made it to the 1st boss but had no clue on beating him. By then I figured it wasnt worth my time.

I had it, but never got around to playing it before I sold it... oh well.
On a side note, I'm 97% sure this game won't play on a Genesis 3.

There was a contest where you could win an arcade machine version "I assume a cabinet with a genesis in it and marquee art"
Wonder what one of those would run?

Why is that?

Yea, this title was pretty cool, I played it a lot but never got too far in it either. Amazing graphics, but pretty tough platformer. All in all, a solid game.

Reviving another old thread rather than starting a new one, but does anyone know why Gargoyles won't play on a Genesis 3? I've been putting off re-buying a Genesis 1 or 2 for a while now as all I've had for a few years is the model 3, but I just picked up Gargoyles and I really want to play it. I had heard a few times it wasn't compatible but it slipped my mind when I was buying it. When I put in the cart the SEGA screen came up, and the title screen, then when I started the game it was just black and I kept dying. Any way around this problem? Like maybe playing it through a Game Genie? Or is it finally time to pick up an older Genesis?
Also, due to a correction of a bug in the memory controller, some games which exploited this bug are also incompatible, namely Disney's Gargoyles. It was released in 1998 as the "Genesis 3" in North America only.
A simple Google search solves all.

But what does that all mean?

Sorry I tried googling Genesis 3 and Gargoyles and came up with mostly review sites. So is there no way around this problem?

Adding a bit to the dredging up of an old thread. I just picked up one of the cabs mentioned above (check out my post over at AA for pics - http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=146439 ). This thread was the only reference to this machine that I could find. The cab is themed out in Gargolyes artwork and was apparently produced at Beuna Vista Games. It has a cartridge slot and can play pretty much any NTSC Genesis cart that I have tried on it so far. If anyone has any additional info on this game cab, please let me know. A pretty exhaustive search of the web last night turned up very little.
Thanks,
Dane

I don't really have anything to add other than DAMN! I would love to have a cabinet like that!

Hehe it is nice. The big screen makes my Genesis games look VERY nice. I am currently going through my collection and playing many of the games I have never gotten to. This cabs gives me the excuse I needed to try them out.

Where did you see it in the first place? Me and Warmachine are trying to convince the person not to mod it for 2-player on AtariAge, that it might ruin the value. We're also trying to find a value on it in the process.
