Strange Lynx problem

I just got a Lynx this week. I tried it with batteries and it worked without problems. Then, I tried a generic power supply (9V, 1A), and it worked too. But no, it doesn´t work on batteries! What could be the problem?

The battery connect cables on the inside can come loose very easily. Check them out.
