Don't mind the blatent rip-off of CK's series. I was just having fun photographing my games. Anyways, I was going to make this a Lunar thread, but since that particular series dosen't have the potetial to be huge, thought it I would make it for Game Arts in general.

Very nice... You might as well add Grandia II for the PC. I've seen it in DVD cases from Ubi Soft and Revival; my copy is the minibox version.

(Lunar Strolling School (GG) was JP only, right?)

Nice collection! Now you need to get the Silpheeds (PC, Sega CD & PS2) and Gungriffons (Saturn & PS2 I believe).

Good stuff, but are you sure Vay is Game Arts?

When I used to talk to someone at Working Designs, he mentioned that the company that made Vay was only doing fishing games or something of the sort at that time.

Edit - Yeah, looks like it was SIMS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIMS_%28video_game_company%29

As far as US releases go, there is also Alisia Dragoon for the Genesis, which was definitely made by Game Arts, and is a great game.

This seems to be focused on US releases, there is a lot more stuff in JP. I wouldn't recommend bothering with either the Game Gear or Saturn version of Magical School Lunar, but the original version of Grandia, on Saturn, is much better if you can deal with JP text. The MPEG version of Lunar on Saturn is also very nice.

PS2 has much better shooters (most JP only sadly) than that sad so-called Silpheed release IMO. I prefer to pretend that one didn't happen.

I looked it up just to see if I owned anything Game Arts besides the Grandias and the Lunars and I kept seeing Vay listed as either SIMS or Game Arts and then sometimes SIMS/Game Arts so I don't really know. It doesn't really feel like a Game Arts game though, so I imagine it's probably not one.

As for the games which I list as missing. I personally collect US released RPGs, so my "missing" list reflects that. I'm never going to buy their shooters. And unless Magic/Strolling School gets a US rerelease (or I learn Japanese :P) I won't be buying that either, I'm content hoping someone eventually finishes the fan translation for the Gamegear version.

Excellent call! I always forget about that one. Few realize that the unique auto-aiming weapon was attempted by Game Arts many years earlier in Thexder, a dated, but cool old school arcade shooter.

Agreed, but Silpheed:TLP takes way more flack than it deserves. There are some pretty cool cinematic backgrounds & music going on in that one, and the scoring mechanic can be interesting. I will give you that most of the weapons are totally useless (I use 2 of the V Fire),the ship is a big, slow target, but it is a pretty cool game; specially considering how cheap it can be had for now. Coming from a Treasure fan, even they shouldn't be ashamed necessarily. Now Dragon Drive, meh, but Silpheed:TLP is alright. The game plays like a gussied-up remake of the original, which was the point ultimately.

Plus, the series is also another big one for Game Arts, and they are actually continuing it, in spirit at least, on the XBox360. The Sega CD version has its charms as a relic from a bygone era, and the DOS game is way better than it should be considering its age.

I am also a fan of Game Arts. Here's a pic of my modest collection. I still need to pick up Grandia III. You'll also notice a severe lack of Lunar in my collection as well. I just haven't gotten around to getting any of those games.

*EDIT*
Today, January 24, 2007, I picked up a used copy of Grandia 3. Scuffy case, but the discs, instructions, and outer sleeve are immaculate. Go me!

Was GA involved at all with Alundra [the first 1], or was it just WD?

There was a Gungriffon 2?
Going to have to keep an eye out for that one.

No. Alundra was created by Matrix Software which was a division or somesort of Climax, the team responsible for similar action RPGs such as LandStalker and Dark Savior. Also, bit of trivia, they teamed up with Camelot to make the original Shining Force and Shining in the Darkness.
