Last Blade 1 and 2 (NeoGeo)
Garou: Mark of the Wolves (NeoGeo)
Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (PS2)
Soul Edge/Blade/Calibur series (PSX/DC/PS2/XBOX/GC)
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike (DC/PS2)
King of Fighters XI (PS2)

there are lots more, but it's tough to make any specific recommendations without a better idea of your tastes.

That said, if you like Street Fighter, then Garou: Mark of the Wolves should be right up your alley.

Let's not count out MUGEN, no fighting fan shoiuld be without it.

Also MAME has quite a few good games you can't play anywhere else unless you hunt down an arcade board, like Dragoon Might, Asura Blade, and Kaiser Knuckle.

Why don't you read the game reviews that are right off of this web site? They cover a lot of fighting games and it would let you pick them by system. Barring that, if you want 16-bit games, you could always try the Ninja Turtles fighting game (the Super NES one was best but the Genesis did get a version) or Eternal Champions (Genesis). Those came out during the Street Fighter II era. Fatal Fury 2 plays pretty good on the Super NES, too. At least if you've never played it on Neo Geo or in an arcade (same thing really). Well, I DID play it in the arcade but I liked Fatal Fury 2 better on Super NES than most people around here probably did. They cut out a lot of stuff but it still came out all right and was one of the best fighting games on the system.

Haven't seen this mentioned yet but is great if you can afford it:

Waku Waku 7 (Neo-Geo)
