Yeah that is good news... It looks awesome... The Wii sure is looking nice...
This might be the game that makes me break down and buy a Wii.

Cool....
That gives me yet another 1up on my friends who didn't buy a Wii when they could. A new Paper Mario! I am looking forward to that title over the Galaxy one.
I hope they use the remote like in Zelda TP.

IT was originally supposed to be released in January for the Gamecube.
I don't have a Wii.

Wow, poor GameCube...so I guess it's okay to say that Zelda TP was the last true great game to be released for GameCube? (Unless you count Radilgy to be released sometime next month)

Hum.. isnt Mario Galaxy also comming around march/april? Atleast thats what i've heard and i see IGN lists it as March 3, 2007. 2 Mario game in that short time, sure, a cool thing, but dont think its that wise when it comes to sale.
EDIT: Fixed typo.

I agree, but, then again, these are two Mario games that appeal to two very different subsets of people.
Plus, I'm still not convinced Galazy will be on time. I have this sneaking suspicion that it will slip to Q3 '07.

Ye, a delay for SMG might be. Gamespot still has it as TBA hehe. I saw a contest in a magazine here before x-mas where you could win SMG. Must sux for the winner, i mean, he/she wins the contest and doesnt get the game before ~1 year later lol.

Not surprised to hear Super Paper Mario got moved to the Wii. And it looks like Radio Allergy may be the last game for the Gamecube that will be of any interest to hardcore gamers.
And it's a pretty safe prediction that Galaxy will come out around the Holiday season - if it doesn't slip to a 2008 release.

However, no firm date had EVER been officially given. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed into 2008.

I've heard they'll have a fall release date (SMG and Metroid Prime 3) because Nintendo wants to have some A+ titles for Xmas 2007.

So will this game be like the Platforming/no-water-pak level in Mario Sunshine? If yes, SWEET. I loved those 3D platforming levels!!!!

Can't wait to play some more 2D-esque Mario. :D I hope they can produce enough Wii's and quench some of this demand so I can grab me one before April. Really glad this is still comming out. Thought they may have axed it when it disappeared from the GC release roster.

If i would get a Wii today, this would be the first game i would pick up for sure :) I'm alittle sceptic to the 3d switching tho (never been a big fan of Mario in 3d), but i will keep a open mind before i actually try it.

So being a 'Paper Mario' game - is it RPG style gameplay or typical Mario gameplay?
Or a little of both?
Either way, I'm still getting it... My Wii needs a new game something bad.

I got it today, and it's exactly what I thought it was gonna be. It's pretty much a mix of the classic Paper Mario Story with a mix of Mario World. I'm loving it so far. I'm on Chapter 3-2. There's this Game Nerd Boss in chapter 3 about made by fall out laughing. He refered to having to race home to post on Digibutter.nerr.. All I could think about was this imaginative site that was a mix between digital press and the butter monster.

Picked mine up earlier today. Saw a DHL truck out in front of TRU and knew Nintendo was making a delivery. Got it straight out of the case even. :D I'll start playing it by this weekend. I'll post some thoughts after that.

I can't wait to play this game. I love the Paper Mario series, and like just about everybody, have been waiting forever for a new console 2D Mario. Didn't buy it yet though, I know I'm getting it for a wedding present from a close friend of ours. Instead I picked up Marble Mania. I'm sick of playing Wiisports and SimCity.

Is the game easy? In the videos i've seen it looks so easy. If you meet some enemies you can just switch to 3d mode and run past them hehe.

I'm on chapter 1-4. I blew through the other chapters in about 20 minutes.
Definitely a fun game. But a bit on the easy side.

Great game. I am totally satisfied. I like this a lot more than New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, and that game was pretty great. A must purchase for any Mario fan who has a Wii.

Currently on 3-1. Enjoying the game thus far. I can understand some of the comments surrounding the amount of text, but it does seem like it has decreased a bit from the opening scenes. Add in the fact that it carries the same wit and pop culture comedy that previous Paper Mario's have had and I don't mind it all that much.
The 2-D to 3-D switching is unique, not exactly what I had anticipated in reading the previews, but fun nonetheless.
My one real criticism is the constant switching back and forth between characters and pixls. It gets to be a pain after a while. My guess is that the original plans for SPM to be on the Gamecube would have incorporated switches via shoulder buttons.
All in all, one of the better Wii titles available.
Note: Did anyone else catch the significance of the passcode for the VIP room in 2-3? A little Nintendo nostalgia to brighten up your day.

Played through 1-1 today (only had about an hour to burn). I am really impressed. Was hoping for a more true Mario platforming experience, however it plays perfectly, for what it is, and I'm assuming you get more abilities with the Pixl's. Love the bonus score for slamming the remote down when you bonk an enemy. Playing SPM has made me anxious for Galaxy. That's a first since Mario World on SNES. :D Awesome!

After playing through about an hour or so, I like it a lot more then I first did. I wasn't expecting the LOADDDD of text in the beginning parts, but more platforming. Its all good though. Fun game

This game is awesome. It's not revolutionary, but it's definitely unique. Not the least because, hey, when was the last time you saw what is largely a 2D platformer sold on a console for $50?
Finished chapter 4 last night, liking nearly everything so far. 3-4 in particular was an absolute hoot, couldn't stop laughing for the life of me at some of the dialogue. I'd bet everyone here knows (or is) someone like that...

Just finished it earlier tonight. I doubt I'll go back to it any time soon (some of the later areas might test your patience) but it's definitely worth the $50. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Also, some of the music is really, really good. Need to find that somewhere, now...

A friend rented it and I played today. Being a fan of the cube version, I was disappointed at first, because they took away the turned based element. Though after playing it for a bit, I'm pretty satisfied with it. Great game I think. They just need a few more like that to actually push me to buy a Wii. For now, it works just to borrow my buddy's.
*Quick Spoiler Alert!*
Also, here are a few more little neat things:
When you fight the robot dragon in 1-4, his eyeball turns into the Wii loading graphic when he is thinking.
When he starts to malfunction, the first thing he says is "I AM ERROR."

Does anyone else desperately miss an analog stick when you're in 3D mode? =/ The idea is fantastic, but I have a hard time wailing on goombas and the like in 3D mode.
The writing doesn't seem to be all that great =/ Compared to the Mario & Luigi games on GBA/DS, the wit is lacking. Especially the opening sequence was just weak. It got good when we were introduced to the bad'uns tho!
