View Full Version : How can you tell if an NES game is factory sealed?

I call upon the powers of our experts. I had a pile of NES and Genesis games traded in today, they appear factory sealed, they've even got the hang tabs on them... but I know how easy it is to make something look factory sealed so what should I be looking for to determine real vs. "re-shrinked"?

Depends on the game. Most of the 1st party NES games have a horizontal seam across the back of the box that leads to a T shape on the spines. Most Genesis Factory Sealed games stop at the top spine of the box like one big wrap. Some 3rd party NES games do not have the horizontal seam, though. Mostly laters Acclaim releases or unlicensed stuff.

Best guide for identifying nes reseals i know of.
Id mainly focus on the part about intersecting seams.

The best thing I can think of is "ask Bronty"

This is exactly what I was looking for. And guess what? The stuff that got traded in is legit.

Thanks!

Hehehe LOL! Isn't this the part where Kid Ice is supposed to interject and tell the webmaster/owner/boss "This has been discussed many times before in other threads.. so I'm closing this one down."? .. because it has ;).

The boss is allowed a rule break from time to time, because if it wasn't for him, there wouldn't be any rules to break.

I would be really surprised if somebody went through the trouble of sealing games just to trade them in...how are the DP store's tradein prices on sealed games?

I'm sure I'm not the only one itching to hear what games they were.
