I never saw this reported anywhere, so I'm not sure anyone noticed. I'll believe it when I see it. Also, it's too bad we'll never probably see this stateside. :-( Iirc, 1 and 2 (or is it just one of them?) were already sold seperately, and I think they were going to do the same with 4, and 3 wasn't even in the line up I think. But now it appears they are just going to combine them all!

Looks like they're going to be the original versions, but knowing Sega (and the level of quality for the recent Sega Ages titles), I wouldn't doubt that they very well might toss on the previous two releases.
I picked up and enjoyed the hell out of the rerelease of the first game but never picked up the second. :(

Is this Japan only?
What console is this for?
Thanks,

You do realize that Phantasy Star 2-4 are in the Sega Genesis collection for PS2 and PSP, don't you?
I don't know if this has something extra about it, but I wouldn't hold your breath for the Ages version if for no other reason than that.

Conspiracy Entertainment, the folks that were going to release the Phantasy Star Collection here in the States, basically got out of any serious development/publishing... I think they've been trying to conjure up a PSP release of their "steamy" Pocket Pool game for some time without any luck. Unfortunately they've been on the ropes for quite some time, especially after their release of Treasure's Stretch Panic (PS2) never gained any traction in retail.
That said, the Sega Ages remakes of PS2-4 are quite a bit different than the Genesis originals. All three of those games featured updated artwork, some revamped sound, and new cut-scenes. Compared to most of the other Sega Ages hacks, the Phantasy Star games turned out fairly nicely.

Even if they didn't remake 3 and 4 or if they didn't include the remakes of 1 and 2 on the disc, the emulation will be substantially better than what Digital Eclipse did with their Genesis Collection. Let's just hope they offer as many video modes as were offered with Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box.

Cool. That's what I was curious about.
I'd think though even with the new modes it'd be a hard sell here given the Genny Collection.

But, as said above, these aren't just emulated crap thrown on a disc...these are full remakes, so I don't see where it would be a hard sell.

I'm pretty sure the Sega Ages announced on that page is just the original games.
Unless they've magically been sitting on III (which far as i know was never planned for remake) and finished IV as well. So I wouldn't get our hopes up just yet (those of us who were hoping for the remake pack to hit the states, that is)
