I'd rather keep this a surprise rather than just make an announcement. So click the clink and save your pennies for a February 27th street date. I *know* I've been waiting for this complete series to have an official release!

Click here and try not to drool! (http://www.amazon.com/Captain-N-Game-Master-Complete/dp/B000JBXHVY/sr=1-1/qid=1168765265?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&tag2=aintitcoolcoa-20)

Sweet! :D  Well, I may just have to add that to my toon dvd collection.
I wish they would re-release the damn G.I. Joe and Transformers sets I missed out on!

Yes that is excellent news, now if we can get:

Saturday Supercade Complete Series
Space Ace
Dragon's Lair

I would be a very very happy person..

I can't wait to get Captain N, I loved that show so much!

Great, now we know what they'll be forcing upon the detainees at Gitmo.

FYI: Space Ace was part of Supercade - not a stand-alone show. So if you have the full SS series, you have all of the Space Ace eps by default. ;)

I hated Captain N. I don't remember why.

Nor do I wish to remember why.

I was really hoping this would be Saturday Supercade. Honestly, I don't think I ever watched this show, so maybe I'll check it out.

I heard about this last Fall, and I am still excited to see these on DVD! It's amazing that they will put out Captain N, but won't put out the Spider-man or X-men cartoons on DVD. Stupid corporate red tape. :2gunfire:

Hmmm, don't remember the show. I'm going to need to check out some clips from YouTube and see if it's worth the pick-up. I remember enjoying a lot of the video game TV cartoons back years ago and recently watched a few and for the prices it's nice to own the complete collections however it's sooo bad now that I'm rewatching them and feel I'll never be able to completely watch the series over. I do agree with GAC about the X-men and Spider-man series though, I'd buy them in a heartbeat! Also, whatever happened to Cbear & Jemal (I can't remember the spelling, but would be on at like 6:30am on Saturdays back around '97)?

Edit: Found it! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115795/

Shout Factory is really aiming at replacing Rhino on the market of geek/retro releases... (they're also the fine people who released both Electric Company and Sesame Street Old School box sets)

Regarding the comment about re-releasing the GI Joe/Transformers box sets: there's one big problem... Rhino no longer has the rights for either, it's now in the hands of Sony, who's doing jack-shit about it (there's still one GI Joe box set missing -- the Sunbow series is getting the same treatment in the end as the TPB of the Marvel comics series... neither project was completed).

To get back to the topic at hand: like Capt Wrong, I too thought it was the Saturday Supercade toons (all I remember from it is Donkey Kong, which I used to watch).

I knew about Rhino not having the rights any more. :( I really don't want to pay $$$$ on Ebay for them but I guess I may have to if I really want them. Stupid Sony!

In responce to the Spiderman and X-men toons a few of you asked about. I assume you are talking about the later ones. 80's/90's? I picked up the '67 series of Spiderman collection. I remember watching those on saturday mornings as a kid in the mid 70's. Great collection! I recommend them highly for those who remember them. :)

That's 'cause Shout Factory was created by Rhino's founder! He got tired of how corporate Rhino was getting, so he quit and started over, with a new name. What an awesome guy.

Are those sets the ones that used two or three frames of animation per minute? :p

I want to see Spiderman and his Amazing Friends on DVD. The 1980's series! Come on, Marvel has even referenced this old show on several comics, it's about time it (and several other shows from the era) get DVD releases.

I'm actually incredibly surprised at the fact that Captain N is getting a DVD release. I thought the companies that owned the properties involved in the show would not let them be released... Mega "I've got Throat Cancer" Man's the perfect example of what I mean.

Man, I used to think this cartoon was so cool when I was a kid. In the words of Carlos Mencia "Everything was cooler when you were 10!"

Looking back now, I wonder what on Earth I was thinking. They "Mega" screwed Mega Man in that show. One of my fav video game characters ever and the raped him. Simon Belmont was a total loser in that cartoon. No way this guy supposed to be the slayer of Dracula. Its like they had to make two of the greatest video game characters look like complete dipsticks in order for Captain N himself to be cool.

There was a time where I couldn't wait for the series to see a DVD release. I know a lot of other people are stoked for it, but I guess I'm no longer one of them. One of this times were I just can't go home again.

No the cartoon series of Super Mario Bros. 3, that I'm down for!!

If you or anyone else here are on the fence (or considering it), you'll still want to pick this up in case it ever goes out of print and rises in value. Have fun getting it if that happens. I'm not saying it will, but there is a lot of cool stuff that has come out on dvd over the years, just to quickly disappear again after a few months and go way up in price.
