OK.. THIS (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95434) thread didn't work very well. I went to Tiger Direct like 8bitnes suggested as well, but quite frankly.. I didn't find any 30 cards under $25 and very few PCI ones. So.. since the whole "look at my collection and pick something out" thing didn't work either I just decided this might work with a concrete offer. I literally opened up my Genesis box.. closed my eyes.. and pointed. I picked Gunstar Heroes!

So here's the deal.. I have a cart, manual, case copy of Gunstar Heroes in excellent condition throughout and I would like to trade it for an OLDER model GeForce card in good, clean working condition. NO cooling mods.. just stock. After researching.. I realized that due to the fact that my PC is in a mini-tower with a PSU that came in it.. I have no idea about how many watts it puts out and some of the even newer PCI cards wanted X amount of watts (I'm figuring it's around 250 watts because I'm currently running 2 HDs and 2 CD-ROMS with no problems.).

So what I want has been revised and my expectations lowered.

I need a GeForce card, any model or series up to a 4XXX (like even a MX400 would do). Every GeForce had T&L and that's what I need. It has to be either 64 megs or 128 and it HAS to be PCI-bus (the old PCI.. not PCI-Express).. that's it. It has to be bus powered though with no extra power plugs.

I'm going to run this offer over the weekend and decide on Monday. Anybody who wants to trade can PM me or reply here and come Monday.. I'll pick the one I want.. obviously.. nicest card wins.

I have no idea what a "mint" (I hate that word.. let's say nice) copy of GH is worth but I'm figuring $35 to $50 on evilBay.

But WAIT! There's MORE! To "sweeten" the pot.. I'm also going to throw in a copy of No Escape for the Genesis. It's complete (this time.. even including the "extra" docs) and in like condition as GH. It's fairly hard to find this title complete and I have a complete SNES copy which is even rarer; so I can part with this.

I'm busy listing and selling stuff on eB this weekend and I know you guys usually want pics.. but honestly.. I don't have the time. You'll have to trust me and I have feedback in the FB forum (The link in my sig doesn't work.). Questions are fine.. but basically.. it's as described.

You post the card, and I'll post the games. Just please.. since it's a video card.. pack it good and so will I. Sounds fair enough to me.. so what do you think?

What you're asking for is pretty tough. I say this because you're asking for a rather advanced (for its time) video card with an older interface. Not too many PCI versions of those cards were ever made. Plus you specify it can't have cooling or secondary power. You'll be able to find them but they'll be much more expensive than their AGP counterparts. In fact I found some for you but they aren't cheap, the cheapest one that fits your specs is $48. You'll have to check and see if they have fans or not. Here's one:

Thanks for the link.. believe me.. I know. I spent 6 hours solid on eBay last night looking through every card of the type I could find. 90% of them were AGP. If I could take an AGP card I could get one on evilBay for around 10 bucks!

Actually.. a fan or not is not that critical to me. But the power requirement is. I can deal with an extra plug for a fan.. or even the card itself, it's just that I noticed that very few card manufacturers give a minimum PSU requirement in their listings and I have no idea what mine puts out (I'm guessing about 250 watts though.). Some of the MX400s I'm looking at (GeForce 2's actually) say they need a minimum of 250 watts. Then when I get into the MX420s and MX440s.. which are actually GeForce 4s (and I don't need anything newer) I can't even find wattage ratings for them. I was just assuming that it was at about that time that vid cards started requiring separate power plugs for themselves.. not for the fans.. but for the cards themselves.

I did the Pricewatch thing as well last night, Geeks and Tiger Direct.. they all want about $40 to $50 for what I need.. brand new.

I just want to be able to run older games like X2, Tron 2.0, Homeworld 2 and such.. possibly even the 1st Warhammer 40,000 RTS.. I need a card with T&L for all of those though. I have them all but they either won't even install or won't even start on my current PC.

Sucks.. :(

I see you didn't get it, that sucks. 12 bids for a card like that, wow! Must be some other people in your situation.

Well, I finally found something over the weekend. It was either through Pricewatch or googling (I think it was Google actually) I found a brand new MX4000 64Megs for $38 and free shipping! Of course.. the price of the card dropped down to $29 only 1/2 hour after I bought mine.. but that's life; and the story of mine :( .

I also managed to score an 80 gig, 7200 RPM, 8meg buffer WD Caviar HD over the weekend on eB for $25, so now this old machine is maxed to the max.

My thanks to all who helped and showed interest.

P.S. I can't wait to get this. Just imagine getting 50 new games for Xmas.. and that's what it's gonna' be like for me! Except for the fact that they've been sitting on my shelf for years.
