Friday night on eBay somewhere in Texas there was a 720 cab for sale. The good news, the cab looked pretty good, was within driving distance (well, 400 miles), and was listed at $400 and had no bids up until 5 mins before the end. The bad news, there were no pictures of it working, and it was being sold by a guy with 0 feedback.
I spent the past seven days trying to talk myself out of bidding. I rarely play the games I have now. And, at 400 miles, I figured the trip was going to cost me an additional $100 in gas alone. On the other hand, 720 is probably my favorite arcade game of all time, and due to its unique controller, I've never really enjoyed any home port of it like I enjoy the original. Decisions, decisions.
So, at a minute 'til, I bid $400 and was quickly outbid. I raised my bid to $450 and was outbid at $455. I went back to put in a bid of $600 (which is $100 more than I told myself I was willing to spend) and ... the auction ended.
Even though deep down I wanted it, I told myself I didn't, bid low, and ended up not getting it. Back to eBay watching ... In the past few years I've only seen three within driving distance. I'll find one, someday ...
