Have I just not noticed this before and these are common to see? First, I thought this was a pretty awesome lot:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ULTIMATE-NES-COLLECTION-651-NES-Games-152-Complete_W0QQitemZ280072125196QQihZ018QQcategoryZ3 1583QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Until I saw this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NES-Nintendo-EVERY-GAME-EVER-MADE-670-LOT-Licensed_W0QQitemZ110083483658QQihZ001QQcategoryZ6 2053QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Dont think Ive seen two lots of that quality up at the same time

You know...considering I'm only missing 17 games out of the entire US NES library...and 3 of those aree dumb panesian ones...

Common or not, for $9,000+ and climbing I'd consider selling my NES collection. That's pay off one of my two credit cards and then some. O_o;;;

(me watches the auction)

I cant believe the second of the two auctions is up to that much already. No way is it worth that. It doesnt even have any of the truly big money titles! The stadium events is PAL (does not mention it in the auction) and does not include any boxes, manuals or unofficial (the big money) carts. If I pieced together all my doubles, I am sure I could put together a complete cart only "official" NES set to sell off. I too will keep this on my watch list...

I was about to argue with you on the boxes part until I realized that those werent part of the auctions and they are selling them seperately. That borders on shady in my book, but its interesting to see the other auctions this person has - thats an impressive collection

Where in the auction listing did he say anything about boxes being included? I don't even see boxes in any of his pictures. How is he being shady?

As for the first auction, you gotta figure that he'd be getting a lot more than he is so far if he accepted PayPal.

Uh, the gallery picture that shows boxes underneath and to the sides of the giant wall of carts?

Honestly? This particular "complete" licensed US set (lacking by far the most expensive game) is not really THAT impressive. Fairly easy to piece together. The collector's (including myself) generally try to only go after boxed, complete or sealed games these days, therefore making it relatively easy to piece together a complete set if you have the $$$ and time to sift through auctions (this particular user bought most of their collection on ebay).

Some of the other auctions, though, are pretty rare. They do show up, but not often. The rarest things they have up are probably the trolls on treasure island complete w/ troll on box and the complete copy of wayne's world.

Cant believe how much this auction is up to. I dont see how the high bidder is legit at this point, but the second high bidder has over 1000 feedback. Crazy stuff...

tatally crazy, average of $30+ a game. LOOSE?!

raregamergirl
01-29-2007, 11:08 PM
Even if all the games were COMPLETE, this is ridiculous! Even if the auction also included the unlicensed games with EVERY game being complete, this price is high. I just dont get this auction at all...

Now Im not sure whats more interesting - the $25,000, or the 251,000 hits. I guess with that much exposure its easier to rope in 3 or 4 dolts that will bid that high. Maybe I should pimp all my auctions on digg?

$26,000? My rofflesmeter just asploded. So what's our collection worth? Six figures? Roffle.

And thank god someone caught the PAL Stadium Events. I would think these forums were losing their edge otherwise.

And now it's up over $30k... That's it...I'm gonna collect NES games. When I get all 770-something games, I'll eBay 'em all, and I'll point prospective buyers to this auction.

(Well...it's a thought, no?)

Two things will happen when that ridiculous $30,000 auction ends:

a) The buyer won't pay
b) The buyer won't have to pay because the winning bidder will be a shill bidder taking advantage of eBay's new "Bidder 1" "Bidder 2" policy.

Either way, there is no way $30,000 is being paid.

I don't think there is a shill bidder. If there was I am pretty sure that the shill bidder probably stoped shill bidding at around 10,000 or 15,000. Not even the greediest person would want to press there luck with this auction. I am afraid that this could be a repeat of the Velvet Underground record auction that ended over 100,000 dollars. Too many people want to be part of a news worthy ebay item, just so they can tell their friends that they bid on it. I am not too sure why someone would want to do that since only the seller of the auction will ever know if you were the second or 14th placebidder. If the first bidder turns out to be a flake there is always a chance the seller could still make a ton of money by using ebay's second chance offer.

raregamergirl

Have to agree with megamaniaman here. There are definitely some legit bidders in there. I dont think any shill bidding at all is going on, makes no sense at all. I think the high bidder might end up flaking, but I am betting a second chance offer will be accepted and it will sell at nearly the end auction amount. Insanity? Indeed.

This is beyond way too high of a price. However, there's got to be a legit bid in there somewhere. I think whoever wins will overpay anyway.

No Cheetahmen 2 or NES World Championship...

200.000 $ ???
What is going on here ?

This is ridiculous! $200,000! I`d be pissed if I was the seller. Wish my life was boring enough that I`d have to resort to ruining auctions on E-bay to entertain myself.

the 200k is shill bidding but 31k is not.

Cheetahmen 2 is not licensed.
NWC is not 'released'.

On the other hand, Where are:
CyberBall
Gauntlet
Indiana Jone (UBI)
Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Miracle Piano
Pac man (tengen)
RBI Baseball

Good point, I didn`t even notice that. Those are also licensed games & what about the Zelda variants?

yea this almost has to be fake now, 200K yea right. although bidder 54 has between 50-100 feedback and it said he bid $200,000??? im totally confused on this one now?

dylan0228
01-30-2007, 05:01 PM
Ever wonder if Jay Leno or Conan might be buying it? LOL! One of those shows did E-Bay skits. It`s possible. Bidder 54 looks legit at $200,000!

StakeRaiser
01-30-2007, 05:51 PM
Considering the first auction in the first post of this thread barely went above 3,000, I would say the 230,000 the other one is up to now is quite a joke.

Look at all the bid retractions on it, 5 so far, they all "entered the wrong amount" LOL yeah right

I think the VU album only ended up going for 20,000, and it hasn't been back up , so that bid must have been real, maybe Lou Reed bought it hehe

If the Velvet Underground auction is "new enough" to still still show you could see if feedback has been left for the buyer, or seller...

which leads me to... will the winning bidder show as a bidder number for feedback, or will it revert to their actual member name?

I thought this was getting hokey a long while ago and haven't looked lately. That's a LOT of moola, even if Mario himself were bidding this!

btw.. up to 236,000 + change now... buyer should get free shipping, eh? LOL

it's ended now... final price US $3,161.99

must have been some shady bidders

megamaniaman
01-30-2007, 06:58 PM
Wow, it is now 240,000 and still climbing. The weird thing is that there have been 2 bidders who have bid over 200,000 with over 50 feedback. The one with 225,000 had a pretty high percentage feedback as well. If you do the math, I think it averages out to over $350 a game. I don't think there is a single NES game of the 670 that is worth $350 loose, being that the stadium events is PAL.

GEE... NOW it's back down to about 25G. Most of the retractions say entered wrong amount, or something to do with no contact. Ridiculous.

So what the heck happened to the auctions?

Bassgrabber
02-02-2007, 09:41 AM
The last time I checked it was bidder 69 with $1,000,000 bid

The seller pulled the auction and instituted a bidders list, I THINK... Here's their note...

On Feb-01-07 at 14:59:33 PST, seller added the following information:

AUCTION CLOSING ::::: Ebay Shiller's, Scammers, and Unverfied people hit the auction running up the bid and keeping legitimate bidders out of bidding. So ... ATTENTION to all those WATCHING this Auction. I want to encourage you to keep my Ebay ID on hand and check back in a couple hours. This will be Relisted and I will either have this where you must Verify critical information in order to bid or I may choose to run a 3 day BEST OFFER Auction so if you are serious then watch out for the new listing. This has gotten way out of hand due to Shilling and Ebay has a big issue on their hands with it. So, LOOK FOR THIS RELISTING in a couple hours. And the new ad will address some of the questions I got during this auction.
Thanks ... and look back in a couple hours

On Feb-01-07 at 19:11:26 PST, seller added the following information:
THIS AUCTION HAS BEEN RELISTED so LOOK FOR IT now. Thanks
