View Full Version : Every Nes Game?
Take a look at this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110083483658&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2
I thought there were more than 700 NES games. Any NES experts care to weigh in on this auction?

It's as complete as Michael Jackson.

I think the key is the word "licensed" I think if you add in all the unlicensed games, you get the 700+ number we all know and love.

$13.100 is crazy high! Thats almost $20 for each. The Stadium Events copy he got is also the PAL version. What valuable games are left then? I mean $100+. Only one i can think if is like Flintstones 2 and Bubble Bobble Part 2, but not even these always reaches $100.

Its crazy to a certain extent. If someone wanted the entire liscensed collection this would be the easiest way to go about it. In my personal opinion I enjoy finding them in the wild, but some people I guess just don't have the patience.

That takes the fun out of collecting.
That takes the fun out of collecting.
I agree. If you're really that hard up to play all of those games download a ROM set.

That takes the fun out of collecting.
So true. The whole reason I collect is to have a hobby, To have something to look for in yard sales And get them for dirt cheap prices. It was a great feeling to buy those 72 games for $18 or so in 2004, And in 2006 It was fun to buy like 50 or 60 games for $10.
I don't find deals like that too often, But when I do it feels great. How often do you find something like that for so filthy cheap? Not that often.
Oh, the auction is at $15000 now. Rediculous.

Keep in mind guys that the likely buyers of an auction such as this are NOT collectors. It's likely a company or an individual with a lot of cash to spend that doesn't want or doesn't have the time to go out hunting for cheap deals, but is nevertheless interested in getting their hands on a complete NES set from back in the day. This is a rare chance to get them all at once, so it makes perfect sense that the price is going to be a lot higher than other smaller collections/individual purchases.

I'm sure there are some 0 feedback bidders in there somewhere.
I think it's actually brilliant to have auctions of complete collections (though this one does not every game, obviously, nor are most of them boxed either)
Consider the painstaking time and effort to get a complete NES collection, and then for people to "expect" it to go cheaper. I mean, sure, if you average out the prices, it should, but this saves you months or even years of headaches, and time is much more valuable than money to some people.

It's an incredible auction, for sure.
Some guy elsewhere made the comment "Please, let's be honest, like 1/10 of those games are really worth playing"
Diff strokes for diff folks...
I still have my NES and 130 games, but I haven't touched it in forever...
Whoever wins that auction, if they could do a local pickup and save on S&H, that'd be pretty convenient for buyer, and seller as well

Yeah, the top two or three bidders have a feedback rating between 1 and 9, but a user with 1000-5000 feedback (100% positive) bid 15,000 on the auction, so at least that should be somewhat legitimate.
Too bad the usernames are now called "Bidder ##"...makes it useless for companies like goldencasino.com to win auctions like these for media attention.

Yeah, that was RCM. He stated above that if they want to play them so bad, they should play the ROMS. *Shrug*, AFAIK ROMS are illegal on games you don't own, and even then Nintendo claims that even if they are "backups" they are illegally being used. We use them for licensing projects, but we had to get permission for the most part.
I mean, I know everyone does it, but it's still a somewhat gray area in terms of legalities.

I was agreeing with Shadowforte that it takes the fun out of collecting or working towards any goal so they may as well continue to take the "easy road." I wasn't promoting piracy DTR!

wow this really makes me feel good about my collection. i literally have every single game in that auction, including an Ntsc stadium events, and fortunately didnt even have to put in no where near that kinda price to get em all. plus he dont have many cib ones either. :-o
I'm sure there are some 0 feedback bidders in there somewhere.

I fully agree with that point of view...1 point of view is to say: hey, if you get all those games at one time, there should be a discount for this, because i buy 700 games at once!
Another one is to consider the MONTHS you save by not looking everywhere for each game, separate shipping costs, etc...and time is money, right?
But..isn't the "hunt" the point of collecting? :)

I agree with this, and i would personally have been interested IF the collection was really complete, WITH box&instructions (sorry,i can't stand loose carts or CDs as "collectable" :)
Nintendo of Japan states that the entire NES collection/games is approx 2200 games, so that's not even half.

This auction amazes me. Just think about it. If the auction stops now, this guy makes $30/game (I know, the auction also comes with consoles and accessories, but let's just think about the games here). Most of the games are loose, so most of them must not have costed that much to buy. It is the best game investment I have seen for ages, really.

Is it all that different from the 6 and 7 figures that multi-millionaires pay for classic cars? If 21G is a drop in the hat for you, then why not?

Current bid: US $24,862.31
(Approximately C $29,332.56)
Insane... still that's now just over $36/game. Even if they are in great conditions my god. The sad thing is there's still so much time left on it, there's several bidders that keep tossing in money on top and it continues to grow. Some game stores will see this auction and feel they need to rejack up their prices on NES games. Sucks ass, I hope they don't venture to eBay.ca!

The higher it goes the more I feel bad for that sucker that pays so much for those bad games like Dr. Jekyll and mr. hyde, Home alone and Back to the future. I can't imagine anyone buying any of those games for more than a quarter.
Thing is, NES titles are so cheap on ebay USA, many titles can be had for $1.00 or less
Nintendo of Japan states that the entire NES collection/games is approx 2200 games, so that's not even half.
Yes,but the guy refers to US collection
Yes,there is about 1240 Famicom games, and 200 Famicom Disk System games
Then that 2200 number is if you add those 700 NES US games to those 1440,and maybe the 100 or so PAL exclusive releases.
But you'd definately get TONS of "doubles" between NES US games and Japanese Famicom ones
I don't think there is 2200 DIFFERENT NES US/FC/FDS/NES PAL titles.

I will repeat what I said in the eBay forum thread.
ROFFLE.
Final bidder won't pay. It's getting too much coverage. It was farked over the weekend, and I'm sure it's been digged too. Probably will get worse as time goes on.

Of course its fake, no1 is going to pay over $200k for this. The "serious" bidder that got a bid on $200k can be the same owner as the other 0 feedback bidders. Too bad for the seller, its not sure the serious bidders are interested paying the price they have as a max bid now when the auction is over.
Not even boxed/instructions
THEIR ALL HERE....maybe he should learn English first

The auction has become pure BS. There's not that many people who have $200k to blow on video games, and those that can I'm pretty damn sure it doesn't just so happen that two or more of these wealthy eBayers are battling over the collection. It's obviously fraudulent due to the mask of users bidding on it period, it may be a ploy by some on-line stores to attempt to skew the NES market to give them more $$$ on their auctions and websites. Who knows, but it is pure BS for sure.

Very crazy auction. Especially for that price.
I personally would never buy a complete collection like that.. where is the fun in hunting stuff and getting packages every week?

01-31-2007, 04:49 AM
One of the scammers actually emailed me back, and I told them they would remain anonymous, told me - quote: we do not like someone selling all these NES games (670) at once because it takes away from all of us that try and sell them individually for more profit in the long run: - end quote
Haha people are sick. Right now the price is over $30 for each game. They should be fucking glad that the price is the way it is now, ugh.. some people are just stupid hehe. And they really think this is the first auction that had 670 NES games in it? It wont affect the sales at all. This auction is forgotten in a week.

It's really interesting though and makes me wonder, how much money did some of our fellow DPers payed individually and actually saved tons of cash compaired to this large auction. I usually bid in bulk on certain things because I know other people aren't looking for some of the games that come with the group or don't want to pay the price, but this is overpriced IMO.
