I have a copy of Digger T (PAL) and I want to play it on my NTSC NES front loader modding the CIC in the toaster hasnt helped me with this game it still has glitches in the game.
My question is can I transplant an NTSC CIC chip from a cart to this PAL cart will it fix my problem.
The game glitches in Digger T (PAL) being played on a NTSC modded console is noted on a few sites but no one mentions anything aboot transplanting an NTSC chip to the PAL cart.
Will this work or is it a waste of time.

I suspect the issue lies with using a game coded for 50Hz on a system running at 60Hz.

I'm pretty sure you're right too, I've tried playing a USA Final Fantasy 1 on my 50hz NES and i basically get the same error but the other way round, if that makes sense!?
I did the universal region mod too!
I wish there was a way to mod in a 50/60hz switch to a NES!

NES games were programmed (ASM 6502 language) directly to the hardware. Since the NTSC NES has alittle faster CPU than the PAL NES you might experience glitches in some games. I think the reason is due to the 50/60Hz. So if you try to play a PAL game on a NTSC machine, or vise versa, the game will notice that its not the exact same hardware.
So the only way to make a 50/60Hz switch would be to have both the PAL and NTSC CPU/PPU in one machine and be able to switch between them. I dont know if thats even possible. Luckily its far from all games that got too serious glitches, but some games wont work at all, unfortunatly :\
EDIT: On a side note, it is possible to overclock the NES :) This will solve the slowdowns in NTSC games that are played on PAL machines, but the glitches will still remain afaik :\

Icut pin 4 of the CIC and I haven't had any problems with PAL games other than that they run fast. Interesting that some don't work. Some clones may work, though...might be worth a shot if you have any.
