There's a pretty good thread about this going on at CheapAssGamer, and I wondered what DP members would think. So, at the risk of angering hardcore Nintendo fanboys (and let's all try to keep things civil kthx), here we go.

My pick is Tingle. Imo, he's the Jar Jar Binks of Zelda.

They've been shoehorned into almost every conceivable genre and they're so saccharine-sweet it makes me want to puke blood. Kid Icarus' villian character of Eggplant Wizard. It might have been his depection in episodes of Captain N: The Game Master that did it, but I just never liked the character. As far as most annoying Nintendo character though, I'd have to say with a cool as Mario is I can't stand his whole "Itsa' Me Mario!" thing or the fact he's in every genre of gaming save a GTA type game.

Right, and I was surprised that so many respondents picked Waluigi. I have the 64 and the Cube versions of Tennis, but the 64 version is my fave. This game is probably in my top five of all time. That's why I could never rank Waluigi towards the bottom of the pile, because he was so good in that game. A highly useful character that you can rack up wins with shouldn't be so reviled.

I thought Waluigi was a horrible character, but he has sort of grown on me. He looks like some lame idea a 3rd grader came up with in math class, but that has a certain charming quality to it. And his voice is hilarious.

Wario kicks ass. One of the best Nintendo characters IMO. Sure, you could argue that the core concept isn't all that (evil version of Mario) but the guy has developed an awesome personality over the years. He's fat as shit, burps, farts, picks his nose, smells like garlic, rides a motorcycle and pimpin' car, and he's pretty much invincible. He's not a good guy, but not entirely bad either; he just wants to get rich or die tryin'. And somewhere along the way he started his own game company.

I like Birdo, but she's been whored out by all of those party type games recently, reduced to being Yoshi's g/f. But she (he?) was awesome in SMB2, so she gets a pass.

Tingle rules. I could never hate on a character just for being weird as hell. He's not poorly designed or written, people don't like him because he reminds them of their creepy uncle who used to touch them when they were children. So Tingle is (understandably) terrifying for some, but hilarious for others (including myself).

Before I'm done, I just realized there's someone I hate ever more then daisy......BOWSER JR. That little prick can burn in the pits of hell. He replaced seven cool, unique characters (the Koopa Kids) and he's some pint-sized version of Bowser. If I ever find out who came up with the idea, I'll murder them.

The difference is Mario is the most popular VG character in history, Sonic isn't. Mario also didn't replace any previous Nintendo mascots. Sonic (stupidly on Sega's part) replaced the much superior Alex Kidd, along with Opa-Opa and Joe Musashi (Shinobi). Replacing Mario at this point would be worst than suicide, it would be genocide.

I think I'll have to go with the consensus on this one and say Waluigi. That guy needs to be banished from all future Nintendo projects. I don't give a running snakes friggin beak how good he was in any Party or Tennis or Kart, this character is garbage. They couldn't have at least just flipped the friggin "L" so it would at least look like a lower case "r" and call him Ruigi (which would have at least made a bit more sense), nonononono, they put a "Wa" in there for no reason. I've hated this gankly-wank bastard since I first saw him in one of the Mario Partys on 64. I can't believe that horror has been around for so long already. Even his running animation is annoying! Everytime someone gets his assist trophy in Brawl I always go after him because I want to harm him bodily, but you can't hurt him! I swear Nintendo made this guy on purpose just to piss people off!!!
