You find that old system in your closet in just gathering dust. You haven't played it in months, maybe even years. You don't want to throw it out. Instead you sell it at a garage sale.

You sell the system and some games for $40. You wonder what you should buy with your earnings. You decide to buy an old video game system that you find at a retro game shop. However, this is the same type of system that you sold last week.

You realize that some of the games you overlooked were really good, and that is why you bought it again.

I did this with my Atari last year. Has anyone else found themselves doing this?

I gave or sold away everything I had for Sega Genesis 10 years ago, and never looked back (only system I got rid of). Every now and again I see a lot of system and games for 30 or 40 bucks on ebay, and it gets my wheels spinning, but I usually just abstain.

When I auctioned off my VCS collection on ebay in 2003, the buyer himself put some of my games on ebay a year later. I purchased some back :-)

and i made a profit of $60 :)

and i will never buy an atari 5200 again, there is nothing that will come out on that system to even put buying that system again into my head :)

I had a pretty large NGPC collection a few years back. Decided it was time to sell it off when I stopped playing it and I realized no new games were coming out for it. Wound up buying it back almost a year later, but I only bought back the games I knew I would play. I won't be doing that again. If I decide I need to sell, the system and the games I love the most will stay.

Adventure II is a great reason to pick up an Atari 5200 in my mind.

I can remember selling off my entire Atari 2600 collection in a garage sale back in the early 90's. It sat in the cellar for several years unused before being sold.

Many years later I found myself loathing that decision and missing those games badly.

I'm on my third NES now and just sold my third Genesis (well, MegaDrive). I'm not a collector, but rather a player. So when these consoles just stood around for 2 years or so without being played, I sold them...only the buy them again half a year later because I just wanted to play them again...And the circle begins anew :-)

Perhaps after a number of years. But a one-week turnaround? Haha, that's pretty fast.
