Broken Gameboy Originals

What would be the possible cause of two Gameboy Originals not turning on when there are fresh batteries in it? Just wondering, because I'd like to fix them if at all possible!

The LED doesn't come on, nor does the sound or picture, no power at all to any part of the GB.

Can you still play it with the AC Adapter

I don't have an AC adapter at the moment, would a GBC AC adapter possibly work for the the GB? I'll have to at least try it out...

well the GB original runs at 6 Volts,Pocket 3 Volts and Color 4.5 Volts. Plus the plug for the GBC is smaller so yea.
