Yet another N-Gage is supposedly coming out this September.

I've got to hand it to Nokia.... They're persistant.

Never gonna happen... they're likely just going to switch this effort into making more graphically powerful cell phones.

Although I did like my Ngage, so it'd be neat if it did happen :D

They've been talking about the ngage 2 or whatever the machine will be called for a while. If you read their message boards you've been able to hear speculation about it for a while. Don't quote me, but I think the original ngage saw a bit more success in Europe than it saw in the US, so it wouldn't be a totally bad idea. On top of that, many companies still see the cell phone as an untapped market for the growing video game market. Nokia is just trying to be the company that can finally get a hold on that market and develop it.

Will the next one have a qwerty and be able to browse the net? If so they might be able to make a good Sidekick fighter. I would buy one if thats the case.

I hate how the sidekick is locked out from any other development but I wouldn't get a Ngage without the qwerty/internet. Sidekick games suck horribly also.

I didn't want an N-Gage for phone service, just the games and wireless play. When everyone spoke of cheap software at the stores I went to everyone in the area, not a single place had a sale or price drop that had them in stock! I gave up on the idea anyways once I got a NDS but still wouldn't mind having one of the originals. A second N-Gage, good luck with it Nokia!

blah blah unnecessary rant about how Nokia doesn't belong in the marketplace and how I hate consumer choice ;l

I'll be all over this. Seriously. If you look it as a phone first and gaming handheld second, the N-Gage (Taco moreso than the QD)really isn't that bad of a unit.

If my N-Taco would work on Cingular's network, I'd be using it instead of the other phone I have. Also seriously.

I thought that Nokia had stated several times that the next N-Gage would be simply a software platform, to be used on several of thier high-end phones. The article linked didn't really seem to dispute this.

Then again, there's This (http://www.engadget.com/2005/05/19/nokia-concept-phone-n-gage-2/).

The n-gage was not a bad idea, it was just not made well or thought of the right way. The next n-gage must be either a better gaming device or a better all around phone for it to be successful. I love the attempt, and I look forward to what they come up with. If anything, I will use it as my phone.

I really like my n-gage, I wouldn't mind an n-gage 2. Although if I had the budget my next cell phone would be an iphone.

I think it's a fine idea. Well, maybe not the "N-Gage 2" moniker.

Have the basic platform available on several models of Nokia phones (including a new model that's catered towards gaming but doesn't have "N-Gage 2" or whatever they decide to call it plastered all other the front.)

Download games only. No games in stores.

It just might work.

That being said, I love my original N-gage and I'm sorry I can't get physical games for it anymore.

word.

When you're putting out a gaming platform, you want to make money on software. Nokia put their software on MMC cards, which was an incredibly stupid thing to do. The kind of people who would want to buy an N-Gage were the same kind to download cracked games online. Every time I decided to pop into the official N-Gage forums, I found that it's full of illiterate children who keep asking where they can get cracked games. Nokia should have come up with a proprietary memory card format to distribute games on, and put a little more security protection in them too. I never bothered activating my N-Gage QD, because I don't like talking on the phone. With the new N-Gage 2, I'd have to activate it and pay for some expensive phone plan I'll never use just to get access to playable content. That sucks.
