Tempest X3 thought

I've just had a random and probably crap thought- everyone knows Tempest 2000 on Jag is better with a rotary controller, right? Well, in short, what about using the Beatmania turntable to play Tempest X3 on the PS1? Not only would it be effective, it'd look cool as hell. Has anyone tried this before?

Dammit, I just want Space Giraffe to come out. :|
