A friend of mine asked if I knew which game this is... NO clue. I don't know any of the Far Eastern languages... and don't recognize the cover. Figured I'd ask here...

Heroes of the Pacific immediately comes to mind. But, I can't find any proof, nor do I read Japanese.

Noticed similar covers, but the one I'm asking about on Photobucket is by Taito. The pics I found of Heroes Of the Pacific NTSC/US release is by Ubisoft. Don't know if that's relevant in this case, or not, tho.

Edit: I think I have a positive identification for you...Heroes of the Pacific 2. I'm not entirely sure, but I think that's what it is.

The title (零式艦上戦闘機) means "Type Zero Carrier Fighter," which was the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane. HERE (http://watch.impress.co.jp/game%2Fdocs/20060222/zero.htm) is a page with lots of screenshots.

And if you want a tip, see that plain text below the graphic text for the title? Well, I can't read the graphic text, which is kanji, worth a lick, but it's very easy to romanize the text below it even if you know absolutely nothing about Japanese. The simpler characters are hiragana (or if you come across even more plain and blockier text then it would be katakana), and unlike kanji, which there are literally thousands of different characters of, you can easily find katakana and hiragana charts online and match up the characters. Then you can write the titles in the Roman alphabet, which in this case comes out as: reishikikanjousentouki. You don't even need to know where the spaces should go, nor do you need to have any clue what that translates to (I sure don't). The important thing is that with a rough romanization you can do a little research on any game in order to find out the proper title and more info on a game.
