duo_r: I think all PS1 versions are compatible.
I've been enjoying this so far, though I'd forgotten how noticeable the PS1's dithering can get! It's too bad they didn't release a Saturn version too.
Indeed, all the releases of Policenauts (Original, Best Of and PSOne Books) work with the patch. The only one that doesn't is the PSN version released in Japan...
The PSOne version was the easiest (though it was in no way easy) out of all the versions to translate. It also has the most ways to play it (Modded PSOne, PS2 modded or swap trick, PSP, PC via emulator). The Saturn has an emulator but still isn't as stable as the ePSXe emulator (though that in itself has a few issues) and its a bit trickier to get a Saturn backup to work on a system that doesn't have a modchip...

Oh, I understand the Saturn version wasn't going to be easy! It makes sense that a Saturn translation was not going to be practical, or was going to take much longer, and it would be useful to fewer people. What I'd like and what's practical are two different things!

Got a problem with patching the translation.
I've downloaded Policenauts CD1 [NTSC-J] [SLPS-00215].mdf, and I downloaded IPSWin 2.0 for patching, but when I add the .mdf file and the patch file for CD1 (policenauts_patch1.xdt), I only get an error after a bit of loading saying "The IPS file appears to be not valid".
Do I need to rip the game myself? I have the PSX version, so it wouldn't be a problem, just asking.

To make it easier, just rip your original cd's into .isos and patch them like that. Use IMGBurn and it'll make it all very simple and easy...

LiquidPolicenaut - Guess I didn't read through the readme! I totally ignored the bat file last night, nor had I renamed the ISO files. Works perfectly now, except the no-sound-in-the-intro bug, which I read on the forums that other people are experiencing aswell.
What a game!

Glad you got it to work out for you! The no sound thing, apparently, has something to do with burning at higher speeds. I don't know though. I burned my copy in IMGBurn at 1x and I play it perfectly ok, with the sound, in a PS2 slim...
I have been playing the game for 13 years now so i am just a wee bit burned out on it lol. I still love the game and indeed it is nice to play it in English. I still love Snatcher more but this is REALLY close behind :)

Minimum speed on my burner is 8x (according to Alcohol 120%, so I couldn't really help that).
Ordered Snatcher for the Saturn just now. I'll try to find an online translation somewhere, though I'm considering getting the Sega CD version aswell for Englishness.

hmmm. The Saturn and PSX remakes of Snatcher are, how should we say...underwhelming. There are various issues with the changes to the game (inferior remixed music, some badly redrawn graphics, censoring, etc.) that actually make it inferior to both the PC-E version and Sega CD version. Both of those versions are very close but I still prefer the Sega CD for a few minute reasons. It's still cool that you got at least SOME version of Snatcher, but after you play the Saturn version, play the PC-E or, better yet, the Sega CD version and you'll see what I mean :) Better yet, check out my vids on YouTube or on my site to see exactly how the different versions of Snatcher stack up...

Thanks for the info, there! Guess I'll have to invest in a Sega CD copy then! \\^_^/

Just out of curiousity, is it even possible to make an actual pressing of this as opposed to a cdr copy? Something that will work on any PSX and not just a modded one. I'm pretty sure it's not possible, but it would be neat.
