it would be nice if they tell us how much of a discount of the room will be
instead of having us call the hotel instead.
anyways, thats a pretty nice hotel I stayed there on my first trip to vegas.

I second: it'd be nice to know what the discounts are.

I am pretty sure, but not 100% that I am staying at the Riveria. Even if I am not staying there, I will be spending most of my weekend there. I'm excited, my dad is getting the hotel today.

When I called, they said it was $114 for each night on Friday and Saturday.

Which is the standard price for those two nights according to their website. Question is, is there a discount on this for the CGE code?

I think every hotel in Vegas has a casino LOL

And practically every store has at least one slot machine.

I just checked and for July 28 it is $124 and July 29 $94 (without any discounts)??

this is getting confusing, joe can you give us what the discount is for the hotel instead of calling for it. this way we know what we be getting at least.
even MGC post the discounted rate on thier website.

Yeah just rechecked. Coulda sworn it said $114. So I guess $10 discount for the Friday and Saturday then? Might also apply for Sunday (taking it from $94 to $84), but would have to phone to check. Probably not though.

(btw it states you can't book Saturday without booking Friday as well)

@gamegirl79 - fancy sharing a room? :p

(that's dependent on whether Kris and I go for the 2 double or 1 king of course. Have to ask her preference.)

Okay let me clear this up for everyone. Here are the room rates when you use the code:

$94 for nights Sunday-Thursday (Normally $134 /night)
$114 for nights Friday & Saturday (Normally $164 /night)

With this being said, our discount reflects DELUXE rooms. These are a higher class than the standard hotel room. These deluxe rooms include a larger living space, hairdryers, and refridgerators on top of everything in a standard room.

Check out for more info on the deluxe rooms here (http://www.rivierahotel.com/roomsreservations_roomdetails.html#):

I hope this clears things up for everyone. I will add this information to the site ASAP.

That really ain't bad for a rooms like that on the strip. I think my wife and I paid over $130 weekend rates at Excalibur last April.

Thanks for the info! Now to wait for airline prices to drop...

So have you guys decided on CGE instead of SDCC? I hope so...I'd like to see Kris and finally meet you!!

I will probably be arriving on Thurs. the 26th and leaving Sunday the 29th, so my hotel arrangements are still up in the air. I'm not even sure if I'll be staying at the Riviera....

So with the code, we can actually stay in a deluxe room for less than/same as the normal cost of a standard, am I right there? :)

@gamegirl79 - we're defo going to CGE! However we're likely to be there only from Friday onwards until Monday, unless we decide to arrive earlier. Nothing's set in stone yet. I'll probably speak to Kris tonight and ask.

I'm registered. Are the free passes for the show available when you arrive at the front desk, or am I way too early in the asking phase?

Everyone who registers before July 1st gets a personalized badge that you pick up at the front gate at the show. It says this on the registration page but not the discount page (for the 100 free registrations), we'll add that in so it's more clear.

You are correct sir.

Well I booked the room last night... however the girl on the end of the phone stated (and I don't know if this is because we are using the code) that I wasn't guarenteed to get a deluxe room when I checked in. So was she telling the truth, or just getting confused? Still at least if it doesn't turn out that way, I'm not paying more than normal for a standard.

I just booked mine for 7 nights, and they had no problem guaranteeing a non-smoking, deluxe room.

Then I wonder what's going on... probably first come first served for checking in

She couldn't even guarentee me getting a king room either...

98PaceCar

They usually say that as a CYA type of thing. But it may well be first come first served. With GAC checking in sometime in the middle of the week, it's easier to guarantee a deluxe room (less busy).

GAC, is there going to be any way we can confirm that our email was in the first 100? I sent mine a couple days ago, but wanted to find out for sure so that I can pre-register if necessary. Thanks!

I don't know if this an extra incentive, but Washington Mutual is having some crazy promotion where if you use CREDIT on 25 transaction on your WAMU Mastercard Debit card linked to your checking account, you will be able to claim a free RT companion Ticket anywhere in the USA if you buy stuff like crazy up until March 9!

In regards to making the top 100, there are still spots left but we'll be sending out our launch press release in the next 2 days so I don't expect them to hang around forever.

It seems there are several people who have booked rooms but have not contacted us yet. I urge everyone to contact us right away once they book their rooms. Simply, go to our Contest Entry Form at:

http://www.cgexpo.com/contest.htm

This form will register your free admission badge and will also enter you into our drawings for some fabulous prizes.

Any questions, feel free to post or email us at: info@cgexpo.com

Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone at the show.

John

Glad you did Mat. I don't remember seeing an email from you.

Anyway, we changed the discount page to take you directly to the Contest Entry Form now.

I saw your entry come in so you're good to go.

Glad you decided to join us. It's gonna be a great party.

CX2K
02-13-2007, 11:05 PM
Sorry, it's only 1 free admission for the 2 room nights. Any additional people would need to purchase their own weekend passes.

On the plus side, you will be registered in the drawing and right now the early-bird price for a weekend pass is only $25.

Thanks,
John

Just booked my room for Friday and Saturday.

As far as the room type goes I was told it was "Run of House". Which means what ever is available between the Deluxe or Superior room types at time of check in.

BTW Joe, Sean, John, etc.... Need me for driving the trunk there or for setup? Let me know now paaalllese! :-) I can extend my stay but I have to know.

Chris,

We can always use the extra help setting up especially with the museum which you are a big part of. We're actually going to be moving our stuff within the next month.

We'll be coming in on Weds. but if you wanted to come in on Thurs. to help with set-up or stay till Monday to help with tear-down, we'd never refuse the help.

Don't feel obligated but let us know if you change your reservations or if the hotel gives you a new code.

Thanks as always,
John

I'll have to find an extra or two and sell them this year (as "missed out on" souvenirs from CGE2K5). ;)

Unfortuately the Dragon boys were also available at California Extreme as a giveaway.

Anyone want 8 of them? They are like mushrooms at my place since everyone in the family lumped theirs onto me.

I think every hotel in Vegas has a casino LOL

Actually, that's a very slight misconception. About 15-20 years ago they started building swank, cottage-based hotels just off the Strip (where the Hard Rock is today) like the Alexis Park that did not feature gambling. There's a similar place next to the AP that also runs on that model, but they're the exception that proves the rule. I don't know of any other hotels on the Strip or Downtown or anywhere in Vegas that don't have machine and table gambling.
