I want to get Virtua Fighter 5 for my PS3 mainly due to the lack of games on the system. (plus I love virtua fighter) However I also have a 360. From what I hear, the PS3 version will be Rev B and the 360 version will be Rev C. Does anyone know more about this stuff? Anyone know if Rev C will be that much more better than Rev B? Also the PS3 version will not have online play. I believe there is a technical reason for this. Any word on the 360 version definitley not having online play???

To further complicate matters:

The 360 version will have achievements but the DOA4 stick will be the best you can do for control. The PS3 won't have any achievements but has the new Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 stick.

Also, it has been confirmed that the 360 version will not have online play.

yeah I just want to say let me get the PS3 version, but I would be pist as hell if the 360 version has an added character or something.

I like VF games but, VF5 looks lame IMO. They need to take the series in a different path and give it something new. Bargin bin title for sure in a couple months

The 360 version will not have online play. But I would probably lean towards the 360 because of achievements. On the other hand, I'd prefer the SIXAXIS's pad to the 360's pad. Hmm.... I guess it doesn't matter since I don't have either system. =)

Personally i don't think either one will be all that much better then the other and as far as 360 being Rev C instead of Rev B you have to remember we live in an updateable world now. I expect console updates to coincide with every arcade revision.

As for the Arcade sticks, The DOA4 Hori is a damn fine stick and no doubt the Hori Real Arcade pro 3 will be as well. What i'm expecting thought, is to see the real Arcade pro be released for the 360 as well. probably at the same time as VF5 releases.

This leaves nothing more then console and controller preference deciding which is better. Personally i prefer the 360's bad for fighting games and it worked fine for DOA (SF 2 had issues), but i' never like the SIXAXIS style d-pad anyways.

As for online play, you're right it's not gonna happen. Sega doesn't want tot bastardize the VF experience with lag and honestly i can't blame them. When you've got a game that depends on timing your moves down to the frame of animation it's key that lag never occur.

What is the rev b and c? Some sort of rating?

I would assume i slightly different version of the game (meaning newer code)

I've been playing VF5 on PS3 this whole week... it's good fun... from what Sega PR is saying the 360 version will be identical(they'll be using version B and C have no differences other than network stuff for VF.TV)...

I definately recc that you get it if you like fighting games and playing with your friends... as far as single player experience goes... it's kinda meh... we were spoiled with EVO tutorial/features.

Then again, EVO was a build on an already existing game.

I'll definitely be renting this for PS3 as soon as I can get my hands on it. I just can't drop 65 snaps on any game that comes down the pipe. Of all the games I've seen lately that actually make me want to drop 65 snaps, I would say that Crackdown for the 360 looks mighty tempting.

Anywho, I'm just glad that there is finally going to be a new PS3 game that I'm going to be really interested in checking it out. Here's to hoping that Blockbuster might actually get more than one copy.

I'll be getting it on the 360 -- been meaning to grab the DOA stick and this'll be the excuse for it. I'm interested to see it on the PS3, though, should be quite nice. I wonder how the very technical cross-platform games will shake out -- will one platform look and feel much better than the other?

Anyway, I'd have to borrow a PS3. I won't be getting one until Mercenaries 2 (which I probably will buy one for) or something really nice crosses my eye! :)

I'm guessing it will be similar to the Super Nintendo - Genesis days. Back during the SNES - Genesis days, if a game was coming out on both systems, it was hard to know which one was the better game until all the reviews hit, or you rent both games and see for yourself. Sometimes the SNES game was superior, sometimes the Genesis version, etc, etc. I'm sure it's going to be the same way with PS3 and 360. The good news is that now we have very affordable rental plans in 2007, and back in the old Genny/SNES days we didn't.

For me and my friends, it was fully accepted that SNES versions were always superior. Even with huge content differences (such as Mortal Kombat), the Genesis' synth sound, 64 colors, and 3 button controllers just couldn't hack it.

SNES versions weren't always superior. In fact, it was probably more half and half. Sure the SNES version woud normally have better color and sound, but the Genesis version woud normally have much tighter controls and the game engine would normally run a bit faster and more efficiently. Of course these are all just generalizations, but I don't think that you can just assume the SNES versions would always be superior. I guess if tight controls and lack of slowdown isn't a big issue for you, then the SNES versions would be better 99 percent of the time, but it's hard to argue against much better controls and responsiveness. On the other had the SNES color palette and sound chip did kick some serious ass.

I'm with A1 on this.

While MKII on SNES is probably the most complete 16-Bit port between the two, I generally preferred the Genesis speed that was closer to the arcade. I think the Genesis MK3 port had more voice samples over the SNES version.

I would buy VF5 on ps3 on day one if it was exclusive to the system, just to get a new game. Since it is coming to 360 as well I will just be getting that version probably a few months after it comes out (I have never been a huge VF fan). I need to make 1500 points (I forget exactly when it begins and ends) so I qualify to be entered for a free fuzion frenzy game and some other stuff.
