Gearbolt is tough as nails. Easily the hardest light gun game I've ever played (and I'm 99.999% sure that WD goosed up the difficulity like they did for damn near every other game they brought over.) Grabbed it when it was still new and even though the graphics had aged a bit by the time WD got it out, never regreted it.

Bumping this thread because I just wanted to say thanks to the OP. With EB/Gamestop's current BOGO on PSX games, I'm carrying around a list of these in my PDA and picked up some of these cheap. (Granted, they were loose. BAAH!)

I'll say Herc's Adventure and Tail of the Sun.

Clock Tower...one of my all time favorite games. Waaaaay more scary than Resident Evil & Silent Hill IMO.

Stay away from Clock Tower 2 though, it sucks.

I think Grandia should be added to the list as well it tends to be thrown to the side compared to other RPG's that came out for the PSX yet it is still a great game.

The catch? All of these are homebrews created using a Yaroze, and only ever saw the light of day in covermounted demos on the (as far as I know only the) UK Official Playstation Magazine. But still, very, VERY much worth a look.

From what I have been able to research, the net yaroze program was much more significant in the UK than the states. From what I can tell, Sony USA wasn't very interested in doing the Net Yaroze program and canned it quick.

Assuming I could get a Net Yaroze (NTSC) how would I be able to play these games? I am assuming they are all PAL and won't work correctly in the states. Will I have to buy a UK PS1?

Well, I bought Gumshoe (NES) yesterday on someone's suggestion here, & it's quite different & innovative. I needed another Zapper game too.

I was ready to return it, seemed too hard/impossible to be any fun, but now I call it challenging. It also keeps me playing, trying over & over again, which is one of the aspects of a good game.

Last night, I thought I'd never beat the high score I got when I quit, & on my 1st try today I bested it. 15,600 so far.

& something tells me the game is HUGE.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain-
First in the Legacy of Kain series, and by far the best. Great story and voice acting, top down "3D" gameplay, lots of fun.

Grandia was really annoying, because I remember looking forward to it judging from the previews way back before FF7 was out. When we finally saw Grandia in the states, it was only the form of a graphically downgraded port, and 2 years later to boot. It's hard to maintain interest in an upcoming game for so long, which is why games that get delayed a lot usually don't sell as well as they could've (Wild 9, Heart of Darkness, Run Like Hell, Magic Knight Rayearth, etc.). And also the translation itself wasn't exactly top-notch.

Great game regardless, but it was an irritating situation.

True I am sure it pales in comparison to is Japanese version, but I always use the its not "Orphan for the PS2" argument that game was just horrible.
