I don't really have a game room, but I do like how yours is setup.

Clean and neat..which makes me jealous. And I like the glass case, very nice.

Very slick. I like how thoroughly organized it is, and I love seeing all those imports (maybe they're not imports for you, though?) Nice MVS collection too. :) Oh, and I like how you got a whole "Capcom vs. SNK" thing going on. :P

Quality! Something tells me you're into CAVE shooters... Love the tate candy.

Nice MVS collection too. :)
Right, nice Neo stuff. What do you play them on, consolized MVS? Or do you have Neo Geo hardware for your yoko candy cab?

Like he said, post your rooms!

It's hard to follow up these guys, but I'm gonna try! I'm still a struggling college student, but here's my room of doom! Well I also live in it too.

Sigh... most of my stuff is in storage, and I don't have much room to display anything like that...

Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to afford to move to a bigger place... then, watch out. :)

I don't think Gameroom and Arcade are the same thing...

Awesome Arcade though. Glad to see there's no pinball machines...I hate pinball machines...

Shertz' game room for the win, Alex.

Dude, you have to housify that room in new walls, carpet, lighting, put in a bar, surround sound with some Journey.... and pizza.... That would be my ultimate goal in life.

Nice collection of laserdisc games!

Akihabara: Seriously, your room is exactly what I dream of having once I'm out of college. That is so awesome. The ESPGaluda II poster is so damn cool :P.

If you don't mind, how old are you and what do you do for a living? That collection must have cost fortunes, especially for those two cabs.

I'm interested too, that is what I hope my collection grows into when I get a real job.

I am a student and freelance writer for mags and websites, but I have to Japan 6 times in total and lived there for over 1,5 years so that's how I got most of my stuff for normal prices and saved on stuff like shipping. I never order stuff online and I haven't done so in the past with a few small exceptions.

How does one become a freelance writer? I was thinking of majoring in journalism in college, and I would absolutely love to write about video games.

Haha, thanks. Apocalypse Now is my favorite movie ever, I had to somehow incorporate it into my username. What better a way to just make fun of it;)

You know, my inspiration for the table was seeing that "SECRET Video Game Tricks, Codes, & Strategies" tape back in the NES days, the US National Video Game Team using arcade joysticks on a table with a monitor in front of them. I thought that was really cool, it had a more "serious gamer" kind of feel that I didn't get sitting on a sofa or the carpet or whatever in front of the family TV with a joystick in my lap. So as a kid I made a similar setup with a little desk, a small TV in front of me and an NES Advantage. I had my cartridge caddy, and my little maps and stuff in a notebook, it was so fresh! 8-)

Very interesting to hear the origin of that idea, because I've been planning to copy your "game counter" for over a year now :) I was always planning to leave a comment about it on your videogamecollectors.com entry, but I haven't done it yet.

I do have a home theater, but it might be a good setup for MAME fighters and shmups. I'm sure I could score a couple old PC monitors, one normal and one for tate mode, kinda like yours.

I certainly reccomend it. You may even see higher scores; I find it easier to focus on the game with that setup.

My major is not journalism actually, my study has nothing to do with it.
I guess it's more about 'being' into a certain gaming scene, especially in a rather small country as the Netherlands, where you get to know people. In your case, I guess the best thing to do is make some really good reviews and send those to websites. Your stuff will be read by people and if it's good enough it will (hopefully) give you some more opportunities. Just find yourself a place to start and be sure your stuff is enjoyable to read. Most stuff isn't, especially online, where most reviews etc. are the same. Create your own style, make sure it is in correct and easy to read English (or whatever language you speak).
