So, a lot of you may remember that back in the 80's, there were trading cards for most everything. Even freakin' DESERT STORM got its own trading card set.
I remember at least two Nintendo trading card sets... I'm wondering, are these still made? Do companies make trading cards out of the latest GTA game or something? ;P
Just wondering...

I think the best your going to get are some 'promo' sets of cards that are given out as Promo's for pre-orders. I know that NFL Street 3 had some cards made and i've seen other games that get cards as pack-ins (the many different Yu-Gi-Oh games all get exclusive cards to that game).

I don't mean promo cards, I meant trading cards.
I stumbled upon something very, very cool down here in Mexico. I've found no information on the cards anywhere... I thought they would be Mexican editions of something made elsewhere, but it seems that isn't the case.
I'd say more but that would ruin the surprise... I will say it involves Mario, though. ;)

Trading cards seem to be kind of dead in the US, but Japan still produces tons of cards relating to game. Out of just what I collect, I know there are trading card games based on Star Ocean 3 and Valkyrie Profile (I own a bunch of the latter), and there's a ton of cards based on the content of Enix's various Gan Gan magazines, some of which is just original manga while others are manga series based on games. One set I bought a box of has cards related to a couple different Dragon Quest games, Star Ocean 2, and Valkyrie Profile. I know another series has Star Ocean: Blue Sphere as well.

Don't forget the Universal Fighting System series of cards featuring Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, KOF, Samurai Shodown, and....uh...Penny Arcade. Sabertooth Game's website (http://www.sabertoothgames.com/ufs/default.asp).

Looks like they just added Darkstalkers to their line-up!

Animal Crossing eReader Cards! One of my more guilty pleasures. All the eReader cards for that matter.

Might as well make this public.
I found these trading cards at a store a few days ago.

Somehow I don't believe your gravy train will be pulling into the station any time soon.

Haha, I know. :P
Seriously though, I'm curious. This isn't something that Nintendo would... well, allow, normally. I mean, a Trading Card game? Other than Pokemon?

Careful about selling those cards, there is nothing saying that they had a right to print those cards in the first place. Nintendo has the right to get Ebay to pull off your auctions, and as for the cards, I could see collectors not caring one bit, because all they would need to do is get a nice printer, some thick posterboard and a electric sealer, and they are good to go to make their own cards.
But anyway, I think this is a local happening being done around your area. Maybe coming across the border, but eaither way, if they became big enough, word would get to nintendo and they would most likely shut down the production.
Highly doubtful they would sell them as their own after claiming ownership due to the group printing the cards using Nintendo's intellectual property. Such a process would probably be too time consuming for them to take seriously.

Hrm.
See, the funny thing is, these things say "All Rights Reserved" and "Copyright" on the thing... but they don't say who made them. I haven't been able to find any information on them. At all. But, they're being resold to stores by several trading card distributors, so I'm totally confused about these...

::Shrugs:: I can't see any rights from the picutures or my eyes stink.
But check it out with the stores selling the cards and see what they have to say about them.

Japanese Games contain Trading Cards from time to time. Also they release real Trading Card Games sometimes.
One that seems popular (there are maaaany addons) is Lycee. Here is the latest addon featuring characters from 7 Companies and 15 Games:
