Somebody please help!!!

My Dreamcast is acting funky. It plays every game fine, EXCEPT 'Speed Devils' and 'Walt Disney World Quest Magical Racing Tour.' My Dreamcast will play 'Speed Devils' about 40% of the time. With 'WDWQMRT' it works only about 5% of the time. All other discs play fine.

Ive cleaned and cleaned these two problem discs, and used a CD lens cleaning disc on the Dreamcast, to no avail. The drive has always been noisy compared to other disc based systems, but with these two discs the noise seems louder to me.

I pre-ordered my Dreamcast. The one I picked up on 9.09.1999 didn't read ANY discs. This was the unit that EB gave me in place of the bad one. I seem to remember reading about funky disc drives at launch. Is there something else that I can try?

all I can say to that is that if the games have been resurfaced at all, it will be a pain to read. I found out the hard way on my copy of Sonic Adventure Limited Edition.

Yeah I found that out as well. I resurfaced some games and they no longer work.

how old is your dc?

i can't confirm this, but when i called sega awhile back with an issue with pso not playing, they said that some of the older dc's weren't made to read the discs all the way out to the end.

try a different dc and see if that makes a difference

These discs have never been resurfaced. I know this because I bought them myself new. I have a disc repair kit somewhere, but I haven't tried it yet.

This was the Dreamcast that EB gave me to replace the one I had pre-ordered. I picked this one up during the first week the Dreamcast was available, so it's about as old as a Dreamcast can get. It's strange that it has a problem with only these two discs (in my collection). I have about 25 others, many I bought used, and all but the two that I mentioned play fine. Go figure.

Sadly, none of the local used game stores have ANY Dreamcast units or games anymore. Their story is that no one ever brings any in to sell or trade. Meanwhile, they have stacks of PS2s. Go figure (again).
