I have an unlicensed NES game by Camerica called 'Quatrro Sports.' It features four games: baseball; soccer; tennis, motocross. It's in a gold case, as opposed to the usual grey. On the bottom side of the cart is a switch.

Position B. Only Use this position if the game does not work with position A.

Position A.

The game works, but I can't move the switch. The Digital Press Price Guide lists this cart as being in PAL format, but it's in the U.S. release section of the guide.

What's the story on that darn switch?

ahh the good ol switch to override nintendo's lockout on the system. I never had to use mine, but is what it is for. Some Nes systems were designed to not allow pirate carts to play on them. Camerica used a bypass switch to override this feature.

Yeah, I have the same thing on my Bignose the Caveman. Just as swlovinist said, lockout over ride.

Does everyne really need to say which games they have this switch on? It's on all the Camerica games... there... end of list.

Actually, the Caltron 6-in-1 (and presumably the Myriad 6-in-1) has a switch too, and a 3-way one at that. :) It serves the same purpose, though (bypassing the 10NES lockout chip in the console).

This addresses one issue but not the other. It overrides the big N's lockout chip, ok. I got it. But it's listed as being a PAL cart in the Digital Press Price Guide. Did the NES have a regional lockout as well. My Sega Master System (Model 1) will play games released in Europe as well as North America. Sega was probably so desperate for software support that they didn't include a regional lockout.
