So far I have bought the Wii Lan adapter and I went to set it all up and went to connect and wouldn't let me. Later I read in the instruction manual that it will not support a bridge type router (PPPoE), which is exactly what I have. That $30 down the tubes. Then I buy one of those wi-fi adapters that connect to your PC then up to this dongle that acts as a stand. I install the software on the PC (PC is connected to the internet), start up the wii, went to connection settings, it detects the wi-fi dongle, yet still will not let me connect online when I choose the wi-fi dongle and test the connection. I have no idea why I can't get my wii online. I've spent $70 worth of dongles, cables, and whatever the hell else I need and it WILL NOT WORK. Its really frustrating and was wondering if anyone can help me at all.

Don't know the exact setup you have. But what you need is a router attached to your connection with the PPPoE login information setup in the router. This wall all devices that request internet access, the router handles the login requirements for the ISP. I know that the Wii will connect through PPPoE as I set it up for a buddy of mine not long ago. But he had a router in place with the login info programmed into it.

Once that was taken care of...getting his Wii and 360 online was a breeze.

Look up information on Windows XP's built in Internet Connection Sharing - that's what the Wifi connector uses. You may just have to manually configure ICS on your machine to get it to go.

What OS are you running on your PC?

I've got windows XP on my PC so I don't see any problems with that. I have both the lan adapter and a wi-fi adapter made for the Wii and DS. I am absolutely horrible at home network. I don't really know terms very well nor do I know what most of the settings should be. With the Wii Lan adapter it will not allow me to use a PPPoE connection and the router is a floor down from my room so I can't really run any more cords up to my room. The Wi-Fi dongle gets detected but it doesn't want to connect. I don't know what manually configuring ICS means...I think this is where my trouble is comming from. There has to be a way to do it, but I'm in the clouds as far as setting up the PC. I can setup the wii to whatever it has to be, but the PC is where I can't figure it out.

EDIT: if somebody can give me a step by step of what to set up on the PC, that could really help me out.

EDIT #2: here is the link for the wi-fi product I am trying to set up.

Make sure your wireless channel is either 1 or 11.

Why aren't you using the Nintendo Wifi USB adapter? It's pretty simple to set up, and supports all the DSes and the Wii.

the thing that I bought is supposed to do the same thing as the USB adapter. I've already spent $70 on all these adapters and whatnot, I wanna try what i already have first. I've also tried setting my wireless channel to both 1 and 11.

If all else fails, I have the official Nintendo one, and there were no problems at all getting it set up and working. Just something to keep in mind.

I've had the Wii and DS running through an Airport Extreme base, Airport Express, Motorola 802.11g and a Linksys 802.11b without an issue. I might be lame (I usually am) but I haven't gotten the XP Internet Sharing to work very well.

Make sure your wireless channel is either 1 or 11.

That's exactly what I did when I had an issue and I've had no issues since.

There's a lot of things that are "supposed to be" as good at the product they're imitating.

The easiest thing for you to do is to just use a home wireless router for both your PC and your Wii. They are VERY simple to set up and secure and you should probably have something like that in place anyway.

That way you're not dependant on the PC and you can use it for other consoles and devices as well.

A Linksys Wireless G router tends to go on sale for $40 canadian on a regular basis.

That was the first thing I tried was the home wireless router, but that was the furthest from working that I've gotten. I don't want to buy more stuff and I don't see any reason I can't get the product I bought working (see link in my last post.) I think its a matter of me not being good with networking on the PC. I don't know what to do other than doing an auto-detect and having it work fine. It says I'm getting a full signal so i know its not interference.
