I just received a used copy of Virtua Fighter for US Sega Saturn. The game disc is in great condition, with very minimum wear on the disc surface. I tried to play this game on my JP Saturn using the converter cart, but the system would not even recognize the disc as a Saturn game disc. I'm not sure why this is happening, as I have played other US Saturn games on my JP Saturn without any problems. Could the VF game disc refuse to boot up on my Saturn for some other reason?

Whenever I place a disc in on the wrong region setting it's registered as an audio CD; is this your case? I'm suggesting just incase your converter cart stopped working or is glitching up.

I suspect a dirty expansion cartridge slot and/or cartridge. For the hell of it, try another USA region game with your converter cart. If it won't load then clean the cartridge and cartridge slot and try again before moving on to more troubleshooting.

Try going to the system menu and see if it lets you select "application" on the upper-left.

Or better yet, just don't play Virtua Fighter 1 for Saturn.

I just tried to load US VF1 using another converter cart and the "Application" button was on the control panel instead of the "Audio CD" button, and so I was able to play the game. I will try other US games with both converter carts to see if the first cart is broken or if it is the dirty connectors on the cart that somehow caused the problem in the first place.

As for wanting to play US VF1 on the Saturn, I heard/read that the US version was improved over the JP version. I also have US VF Remix and US VF2, but I was curious about the improvements, similar to how US Daytona USA was improved over the JP version.
