I was reading another thread where someone mentioned that he had found a copy of Rtype for gameboy on the street...so I was curious to know if someone else has found a game in a street, park, school, or similar place?
Thanks :D

A buddy of mine caved and bought a copy of Final Fantasy 8. While we were walking back, we stopped off at the food court because he had to "go poo". In the bathroom stall, someone had left a copy of Final Fantasy 9. Ironic as motherfucker. I don't think he ever got very far into FF8, but he got up to FF9 before he quit (he really wasn't into RPGs and picked them up mainly because another friend of ours was completely and totally gay for FF)
I've never had a similar experience with a game, but if I did I probably wouldn't take it. I dunno...it just feels a bit wrong. :( It makes me think about if I had lost the game, went back, and couldn't find it because someone else already picked it up.

I bet he pocketed (stole) FF9 at the store, was too embarassed to let you in on it, then said he found it in the bathroom ;)

I found Mortal Kombat (cart only) for the Game Boy buried in some snow on the sidewalk during the winter time. That may not seem like a big prize to most of you but this was maybe a month after it had been released. I'd just read the review for it in EGM about 3-4 days before seeing it on the ground. So I got to play and own a "hot new Game Boy game" without spending a penny on it. The game was a pretty poor conversion and ran really slow but at the time, it was cool to be playing it. I especially liked the Goro trick. I'd like to see the butterfingers who lost a brand new game that was probably a birthday present or bought with his/her allowance money.
I don't know if this other one counts or not.......
My older brother works in a garage and spends part of his day detailing cars. Sometimes customers will trade in their cars and as a result, my brother cleans out these cars and is able to keep any contents within after the trade-in is finished. Last fall, he found a Game Boy Advance, with a Monsters Inc. cart inside of it while cleaning out a car that had been traded in. Actually, he has found a bunch of crap in these cars, mostly other Game Boy games which get "lost" in the seats but he also ends up with quite a few unclaimed cd's, cassette tapes, movies and other stuff.

I found a copy of Super Mario Sunshine for the cube in a parking lot, but it'd gotten run over a few times and it was unplayable.
There was a thread here somewhere where a guy found a Saturn and a few games in a box by the trash. Don't remember if he said it worked or not.
As far as myself, street? No. But some friends of mine bought a dump of a house and cleaned it out. Found a Goldstar 3D0, controlers and a nice sizeable stack of games. They sold it to me for $10. The boxes to the games were, um, shall we say uncollectable? All the games were in decent condition.
I was driving along when something caught my eye... I stopped and found an Atari 2600. When I picked it up, water poured out of its many orifices, but I decided to keep it.
Once home, I opened it, dried it out (oven, low heat), and turned it on. Yes, it worked.

Wicked cool. Save the whales? Save the snails? NO! Save the systems that made us who we are. Collectors! I bought a Genesis 2 for a dollar. Why? To put with my other 13 that I have? No, because it was so mistreated and I couldn't stand to leave it there all by itself. It needed love just like the yellowed broken SNES that I have right next to several minty ones.
Sorry, I just realized how off the subject matter I am.

Mom and her boyfriend found a Gameboy Advance SP with Donkey Kong Country in a Wal-Mart parking lot. But I still ask them to not go to Wal-Mart.

When we moved into a new apartment a couple years back my wife found a spec ops playstation game under one of the vents while cleaning the bedroom. Not the find I'd like but something is better than nothing.

Last summer a friend of mine found a complete in box 5200 on the top of the trash can behind his building. He knew i collected old video games so he gave it to me and it works just fine. Also a few months ago I went outside to take out the trash and found a loose Toy Story cart for Genesis sitting on the recycle bin. I also found a complete in box Commodore 64 setup with monitor and disk drive and a bag full of controllers and games in an alley. I have found a Genesis 2 and NES system as well.

I found an Atari 2600 in a box with about 15 games on the sidewalk. It was dirty as hell but I cleaned it up and it worked fine.
I found Afterburner for the NES on the street a while back.
I also found a chewed-to-hell GBA game on the sidewalk... Yoshi's Island, a great game. I took the chip out of the old cart and put in into a shite GBA game case... works great!

About 10 years ago I pulled a complete NES with about 10 games out of a college students garbage. I also pulled out the 30+ LP's he was throwing out, one of which was the Beatles White Album, Score!

I once saw a copy of Spyro on the ground when I picked it up and flipped it over it was beyond compare. So I sat it back on the ground in the same manner, because I decided I didn't want to be the only one to get my hopes up and have them instantly shattered.

Years back about 6 months after the orginal GBA came out, I was sledding with my little sister and we found a blue GBA with a LOTR game stuck in a snow bank.
Also I was driving down the road and saw a master system hanging out of a trash, caught my eye and I stopped and grabbed it, system only. Week later I drive by the same house and theres a box next to the trash cans with some wires hanging out, and I don't know what made me stop, but the box was full of about 20 complete SMS games and all the controllers and such.

When I was moving out of my dorm a couple years ago, I found both an SNES and an Atari Jaguar in the dumpsters when i was throwing out some stuff. I couldn't get either one to work, so I tossed them both back in.

Yes, behind an EB Games late last year I found a copy of Metroid Prime hunters near the dumpster. It was just the cart, with no label. Took it home and cleaned it up, works great.
I also found a copy of Mortal Kombat 2 for the original Gamboy under the seat of a car I bought way back in the day.

Wow...you might be talking about me. About 7 years ago I found some Saturn games in a box by a dumpster. Don't recall that I found a Saturn with it though.
One time I found a bare board of a GB game in a grocery store parking lot. The chips were even missing from it and it was scuffed to hell. I think Imight even still have it in my wallet.
My folks found a Pokemon Red under a hotel bed once and gave it to me.
My brother was cleaning out a hallway closet of a dorm house once at his old college and behind a bunch of regular closet crap like buckets and mops found a loose Euro Golden Axe for the Mega Drive (maybe GA 2, can't remember). Random as hell for New Hampshire!

I have two instances that come to mind greatly, both occurring around 1992 involving old Coleco systems. First my friend and I were walking home from middle school and saw a Telstar in a pile of other stuff (old stereo and records) on the curb. Well, a couple of dummies got there first and started stomping on the stuff, including the Telstar. After they were done, we took the Telstar and it actually played fine! I left my friend keep it, but his mother threw it out a few months later. The second occurred later that year, when I was helping my grandmother move out of her condo. They had one of those storage basements, and someone had left a Colecovision in the pile of throw-away junk. I would have taken it, but there were no games, and at the time, I couldn't conceive of where I would find any, being 14 years old.

I don't think that this counts, But I found a gameboy in a dumpster back in 2004. Another time I got a dreamcast game for free because it had a "Not for resale" Logo on it. (It was a sports game)

I found a Megaman 4 NES manual on the side of a road in some tall grass walking home from work one day.. a little waterlogged but an original manual nonetheless. Didn't have one either :).
My friend found a CIB Super Scope in the garbage once, he ended up giving it all to me and just kept the box since he had one.
The only game I can think of right now that I found was Tengen Pacman for NES, in a box of garbage. I did find a Gamegear and a NES in a dumpster behind a goodwill, but the NES had shredded pins. The tips of scissors were removed amidst the shredded pins by me later that day?! I bet the thing would work no problem if I ever replace the connector, as I still have the NES.

I was sitting on the front window ledge of my friends apartment many years ago and as this car drove by I heard this noise like something scrapping the road as it turned the corner I noticed a grey cartridge floowing behind. So I ran down to the street and picked it up turned out to be a SNES Street Fighter 3 turbo.
I guess this must have been sometime during 1994 maybe.
I have no idea what ever happened to that cart.. seen as I no longer have it.

Had something happen today that was sort of like this I bougt a complete copy of Turok 2 for the N64 and the box seemed to be busted out a bit, but I thought nothing of it until I opened the box up. Low and behold there were two copies of the game inside one box. Talk about some random luck.
I was walking by a closed down pawnshop (went out of business a few days earlier) and in front of the store on the curb was a trash bag. Normally I wouldn't think to look, but I caught a glance of what appeared to be a Dreamcast. I opened the bag and saw N64 games and a Dreamcast with some controllers.
I took the sack home, and inside was a Dreamcast, 2 DC VMUs, 2 DC controllers, 2 N64 systems, 2 N64 controllers, and 5 N64 games. The DC was in pretty good shape and all the DC stuff worked great, except the VMU batteries were dead. One N64 had some damage on the outside so I just tossed it, but the other one was clean and even had the RAM expansion pak inside.
I sold it all on Ebay after playing a few games of Chu Chu Rocket. ;)

That may be it. It was a good long time since I've seen that post. I could be mistaken about the system. Maybe that's why I don't remeber if it worked.

I've found a lot of stuff in the trash before, but never any video game stuff, though I did get a TV that I used for a while.
But one time my dad bought an old dresser at a garage sale for $2 to give to my uncle, and when we were unloading it, I heard something rattling around inside. So I went through all the drawers and found a Gameboy game, I don't remember what game exactly but it was a baseball game.

i was driving through an alley once during a rainstorm, and had one of those'that looks like ---' moments. in this instance, 'that' looked like a sega genesis upside down in a puddle. for some reason i got out(probably to see if it was a genesis) and it was, so, being the collector i am, i took it home. after letting it sit and dry out, and still caked with mud, the damn thing powered right up. the pins werent even dirty or rusty...it must have been a shallow puddle.
ive also found disc only ps1 games more than once...theyre usually trashed(like someone used them as a frisbee) but ive had two that worked fine.
my exgirlfriend also pulled an odyssey2 box out of a trash can near my house. this was about 2 years ago, so that seemed a crazy thing to toss at that time. no games, no system, just the box.
other than that limited amount of junk, nothing great.

I've never found anything great. socom II (busted), xbox controller (busted), nes power pad (probably busted), and aladdin for the genesis. however, a friend of mine moved into a house that had an original space invaders cab in it. he asked the landlord what he was going to do with it, and the landlord said he could have it! my friend replaced a few lights and cleaned the board, and it worked just fine. needless to say, I'm very jealous.

HAHA why ya gotta bring me into this? Well yeah people have tossed out some great stuff. A friend of mine used to live in a private development. One day as we were taking his trash to the dumpster, we stossed it and an NES box caught my eye so I grabbed it. After taking another peek, we pulled out the NES itself, all the cords/controllers,about 10 cib games incl. that FF1, a black dreamcast, games, and tons of 70s/80s rock records. The best part is that everything works.
After we had such a great find we kinda made it a trend to check every once in a while. One day brought a Colecovision and a gamegear w/carrying case and about 20 games all with the manuals, and stuff I have probably forgotten about.
Someone even tossed copper pipes, which I took to the scrapyard and got $50 for, but as for finding games in the street? Nothing but a couple of decent genesis carts left in the flea market parking lot. Good times

Ya, and I can't remember what it was either. I found it at the mall, and it was from Babbage's. It was a game that I either didn't want or didn't own the system, so I took it back to Babbage's and traded it in for store credit.
