I know some games come with the security strip along the top and some games dont. Is it possible that a particular game can have the strip on some copies and some not have it?

I have started colecting unopened PS2 games and i have noticed on a few of my games (Shadow Hearts Covenant, .hack art 3) that they do not have the security strip but when i look online at pictures of them those games they do. My games do have the cellophane shrinkwrapping and not the flimsy plastic wrap type.

Is it possible to do a reseal using the cellophne type shrinkwrapping? I am a bit concerned that i have rewraps.

thanks

Does only the person working at the official Sony factory have the ability to seal the magic in?

Some games can be found with the security strip and without it. They stopped the sticker comming up on two years now. What game is the one thats making you question your packaging?

Having the spine label (what those things are called) can depend on a number of factors. Games that were packaged on the same day on 2 different assembly lines can have different stickers. Not to mention the fact that reprints are fairly common. Print a 100,000... when those sell, print another 100,000... when those sell... etc.

Personally, i've never cared for sealed games but you can buy machines that make the overwrap style shrink. The question you should probably ask "how much can you really make by resealing PS2 games these days?"

.hack Part 3 and Shadow Hearts Covenant

My concern is that if i dont plan on opening these and they have been rewraps then technically i will never know if the disc and contents are in the box without opening them. Plus it goes against the principle that these are being sold as "Brand New Factory Sealed".

Is it possible thesame game, for example ShadowHearts Covenant could have been printed with the security strip and another printing without?

Don't PS2 games have a special plastic wrapping with the system's logo on it?

Or am I thinking of Euro/JP versions...?

US releases defintely do not, even though they really should. I can't imagine it's an issue of cost if they do it everywhere else...

In both cases I'd suspect that the games are indeed resealed.

.hack part 3 was released in September 2003, more than a year before the security strip was no longer used.

Shadow Hearts Covenant was released in September 2004 at a time when the strip was still used. (My copy has the strip, and I buy these games usually a year or more after their release relatively cheap).

I don't know about reprints, it is possible that both games were reprinted, but in both cases I say it is unlikely.

The only way to make sure that you get originally sealed games as long as the strip was used is (surprise) to buy games which have the strip. For the other PS2-games in the last two years we'll never be sure; maybe this will make a deserved end to the factory sealed-collection-crazyness.

I liked the sticker that was on top of the games, made it seem sealed and cool and so I can read what the actual games was when gamestores over stacked, and stocked the games. now time for digging

I've never understood the point of buying games that you never open.

.hack Part 3 and Shadow Hearts Covenant

It appears several of the .hack series were reprinted by GamesQuestDirect. SH:C is likely to have been also, since they reprinted the first game, Shadow Hearts.

I hate to tell you but you could have a BNIB game and it could still be missing the game or manual, there are multiple examples where people have opened the case and found nothing but the manual.

This is true. They did a new run of the entire Shadow Hearts trilogy that they sell in a bundle (which has unfortunately risen in price since it debuted), which is why you can find copies of the games in Gamestop that DON'T look like crap. Good on 'em, I say. If it weren't for 'em, I probably wouldn't have picked up the series.

It would be nice, but nope.
