Hello!

I have a 20 years old Gameboy store demopod. My question is, how rare is this item, and how much money I shoud ask for it?

Everything is in very good condition. 100% complete and working!

- Power
- (Stereo) Sound. You even can connect your iPod :D )

Gameboy with Mortal Kombat IIII and Wario included, not displayed on the images.

I hope to hear from you!

Kind Regards,
Roy

I'll give you five bucks and a half eaten snickers bar for it. Seriously man, they're all over the place. There's about 5 million buried in a landfill somewhere. I just don't have a shovel.

*Whispers* Think he'll fall for it?

The "ask people what something's worth" thread is in the Buying/Selling forum and you have to be on the boards at least 10 days before you can visit it. New rules to stop people randomly coming in and posting spam sales. I'm sure someone here can help you in the meantime :)

I have a 20 years old Gameboy store demopod....

I hate to nitpick, but since the Gameboy was only released in 1989, having a 20-year-old kiosk would be an impossibility.

Most people here probably even realize this, but if you're shopping this thing around elsewhere it's in your best interests to be more accurate in your descriptions. I'll bet this thing possibly goes back to 1989 so that's nearly 20 years. It's still an outstanding display and best of luck selling it if that's what you decide to do.

i paid about $35 for my gameboy color store display (came with 2 different colored gameboy colors and 2 ac adapters) .... not to disappoint you, but 1) yours is missing the GB and 2) every store back then had one, so, it's not all that rare.....

...i wouldn't ask for too much for it......you might be better off just holding on to it....people aren't gonna want to pay a lot for it PLUS pay how much it would cost to ship something that bulky / heavy.....

Nice item. Very cool piece BUT I doubt it is worth too much. People would probably rather have the GB kiosk that is in the shape of a gameboy. Its a cool item but I have to agree with the user who said it really is probably not worth selling.

Mostly true. It doesn't go back quite to '89. Judging from the artwork on it, I would hazzard a guess that it is newer than that. Early 90's most likely.

That being said, it is pretty sweet. A shame it's missing the Game Boy and its cage that I'm guessing went with it. Shipping would be the killer on any hope to selling it. Probably cost more than the selling price. Still tempted to send an offer though. :D

Nice pictures - I haven't seen one of those in quite some time. Looks pretty heavy, so you'll probably have an easier time selling it to someone local.

And welcome to DP, iRoy.

Hey,

Ok, ok, it's almost 20 years old. You know what I mean ;)

The Gameboy is included, I'll take soome pictures with the Gameboy. WIth Mortal Kombat IIII :D

Anyway, tholly. Like I said, the display is complete, and in very good condition. He is heavy, but shipping it to the USA Wouldn't be a problem with many, many foam in and outsite the display.

Plus, every store had one. Indeed, I have to agree with you. BUT, how come no collector I spoke on the internet has one, and even google can't find any items like this display?

Last thing, I think that your Gameboy Pocket display for $35 was a very nice price. Actually, a very LOW price. And, the Gameboy Pocket is almost 10 years later released.

Well, highest bid is $100. Isn't that very low, for this item? - Yes, I'm selling it.

Personally, I think $100 is a pretty reasonable price... I know someone who just bought an SNES display for $100, and I've seen various store displays for sale... usually they don't sell for much more than 100-200 bucks, unless it's something very desirable/rare/cool.

If you want people to bid on it, put it on ebay... if you think it's worth more than $100, name the price you want and if someone buys it, then apparently it was worth more.

Eh? That's derived from the original Game Boy box art, no? And the slogan on the back is from Nintendo's "Now You're Playing with Power" days.

Not exactly. It looks like a sort of combination of the first and second box art. It has the "laser outline" hand and Game Boy from the big box, along with the "explosion" background of the small box. The small box art work coincided with a similar change in box art across all of the Game Boy accessories. This change happened a year or two after release, as far as I can tell. So early 90's is a good guess, IMO.

FYI, Googling "gameboy m90v" (without the quotes) brings up this page (http://cf.geocities.com/binaryside/index.html). The text is in French, though.

I don't know if you are serious, but the original display in that Ebay auction simply showed the gameboy's screen on the monitor.

I like how they have the puke color plastic over the screen to make it match the puke color of the real gameboy screen.

Yes, it has a monitor. That kiosk has a modified Game Boy which is hooked up to a DemoBoy. The DemoBoy displays to a monitor what is shown on the Game Boy screen.

I remember a later display that looked like a giant Gameboy and you had a switch you could press to either use the "big" screen or just the one on the actual Gameboy.

Yes, I was serious. I forgot about that Demoboy thing. I think I've heard of it. I didn't think the original Gameboy had any way to display on a monitor.

I have one of the Demoboy units that was modified by a Nintendo rep to hold a Game Boy Pocket. The screen cover on the unit in the eBay auction is discolored, but the rest of the plastic looks great. Mine screen cover isn't nearly as bad but the outer plastic is yellowed like an SNES in spots. The monitor is also very dim and it's been impossible to find another B&W monitor to fit this thing. My next step is to try and find an LCD monitor that fits and convert the BNC output to composite. Hopefully it won't look bad.

The screen cover in the auction isn't actually discolored. They were purposefully that color to simulate the screen of the Game Boy. Yours, I'm guessing, was changed by the rep to look more like the Game Boy Pocket screen. Your unit is pretty neat-o , though.
