I know we have plenty of ongoing threads these days but I always get a new collecting bug and Id like to have one thread to talk about it. So post your bug too! :)

Out of nowhere I've gotten the Game Boy bug. I read in Game Informer that someone considers Pokemon to be the greatest game of all time. It got my attention and I'm now in the market for an old Game Boy & Pokemon Red.

Got the Xbox bug about 6 months ago, been at it since. I thought I was going to have another bug start a couple weeks ago when I bought 30 PSX games, but most of them are on ebay right now, so that one did not last. I will most likely stick with collecting Xbox, if I start collecting something else, my wife might Kill me. LOL. It's good to collect just one thing, that way you can use the stuff for other systems to fund what you want.

Ha. My love changes every few weeks. It's good to focus on one thing...I could never collect just one thing though.

it's hard to part with some of the stuff I found, but I would much rather have a game I will play than ones that are just worth more.

I have been recently leaning back to serious import shmup collecting. I just gotta stay away. I currently have a cart of shmups at play-asia that's going to set me back $750. Someone talk me out of it I have no control.

You're definitely barking up the wrong tree around here. I say get 'em. Enjoy the games. You only live once.

I've had a 3DO bug for a few days, oddly enough, though it's only one of many- not counting 6th & 7th gen consoles (for which my collection kinda goes bananas), I've long since had a penchant for obscure PS1 gems and any and all PC Engine/TG games. Pity I can rarely find any of either I'm willing to shell out for...

Well, we're definetly not the right people to talk you out of it. EVERYONE here has no control---hence collecting assloads of games we'll likely never play. If its a good deal, go buy em!!

I went from having the NES Factory Sealed games bug to the NES CIB games bug. I figured I'd rather have a CIB game and play it at the same time, rather than oogle at a factory sealed game that I can't play. :)

i get on what i call 'kicks' for certain things from time to time...i was on a ps1 kick for a long time, but that seems to have tapered off recently. unfortunately i have many many games and hate ebay shopping, so cant get on kicks like i used to anymore, as there is just not the amount of product available that i dont have. its sad really.

I've always been a die hard SEGA fan myself, with the Mega Drive being my all time fave system, but I'm currently interested in collecting for the Super Famicom again (like the 4th time). There's a lot of BEU games I didn't realize had come out for the system that I have to collect it. Only this time I've got to space out the purchasing a bit.

I'm trying to get the rest of the pinball sims I want. So far this year, I've acquired:

Pinball Quest (NES)
KISS Pinball (PSX)
3D Ultra Pinball: Thrillride (GBC)
Disney's The Little Mermaid II: Pinball Frenzy (GBC)
Sonic Advance + Sonic Pinball Party (GBA)

The NES bug still continues. So far, I've acquired 11 games:

Adventure Island (loose)
Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers 2 (loose)
Contra (loose)
Iron Tank (loose)
Kung-Fu (loose)
Mappy-Land (loose)
Pinball Quest (loose)
Shadowgate (loose)
The Simpsons: Bart vs. The World (loose)
Sqoon (loose)
Tetris (loose)

Small potatoes compared to some of the NES hauls I see in the finds threads, but I'm kinda picky. I've really gotten back into the NES since I got a Top Loader last October and the bug hasn't died down.

I have a small Gamecube bug. For the longest time it was hard to find anything I wanted, at least on the cheap. Then within the last two months, I got City Racer and True Crime: New York City on Amazon.com, and splurged a bit on Need For Speed Carbon. I need one more to put me at 60.

I've been into the Genesis bug again, and my Genesis is at home while I'm at college. In the mean time, I've bought Comix Zone, Pigskin Footbrawl, Toejam and Earl, Zombies Ate My Neighbors and boxes for two of my favorite Genesis games: Mortal Kombat and Bonanza Brothers.

In the mean time I have also caught the Jazz bug.

For some reason all of a sudden I wanted to collect for the Intellivision. The odd thing is I don't even own one :P. I started to do some research and it sounds like a very appealing system, and a system that I might actually be able to get a some what complete collection for. I actually bought my first Intellivision today. Can't wait for it to come.

But I'm still into collecting stuff for the Atari 2600 and 800XL w/ 1050 floppy disk drive.

I've decided my next MVS game would be Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings 2. And while I'm at it, I'd pick up some more carts I've been meaning to get.

But all my attempts to get Aero Fighters 2 have failed miserably, so the MVS bug was squashed before it really got started.

DonPachi
Strikers 1945 (japanese version)
R-Type Delta
Einhander
Twotenkaku
Gradius Gaiden

I think I'll get DoDonPachi and move on to some RPG's and strategy games I've been looking at. Gotta keep some variety!

I'm busy collecting anything and everything Bubble Bobble right now. If anyone has anything send me a pm! This includes rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars, Bust a Move etc. I am still slowly trying to get one of every NES game (I think I'm at 375 or so). Also trying for every N-Gage game. I've been buying a lot of Shmups lately. And a few Neo Geo games here and there. It may seem like I'm all over the place but this is probably the most organized I've ever been :)

Dreamcast games.

I got my DC five years ago from my then girlfriend. I played it until she broke up with me. Then it went to storage.

I digged it out when I started finding Dreamcast stuff at the flea market. So far I've got around 55 games... and then there's my GBA, with 35+ games...

It's not perfect, but i also understand that a Predator set loose without facing any actual type of threat would be a boring and one-sided game. So I can overlook some of the things in the game.

The timed missions blow, but when I have time to hide, stalk, and figure out how to reach/kill my prey, its pretty damn cool.

I'm not overly thrilled about use of aliens on earth later in the game, but that's a storyline issue I have with the plot of "Aliens vs. Predator".

But I'm happiest that the game keeps the R-rated (or M for games) tone from the movies.

I've had a DS bug thats been pretty active for the last 6 or so months. I've now got two huge stacks of games (totaling about 50 games) that have come about from this bug.

I SHOULD be in the massive midst of a DC bug since i'm down to a whopping 4 titles and that will make for a complete US collection (including variants), but thats been sitting stalled for months.

I should also be in the NGPC bug to get the last 2 boxed systems that I need to polish off everything Official for the system, but again I'm stalling for no aparent reason.

FDS. They are just so cool. Nothing like playing an NES game off a floppy disk on Nintendo hardware. Plus, the ability to spring out the legitimate Jp SMB2 always impresses people. Most who even know of its existence have only played The Lost Levels on the SNES or a ROM. The sound differences in the original Legend of Zelda are a conversation starter for anyone who has a fondness and vivid memory of the cartridge version (jury's still out on the sword throw sound). I also love the packaging of complete FDS games. Everything about them screams nostalgia for something I didn't experience firsthand. Fantastic.

I am also currently all about Famicom games that have enhancements over their US counterparts. Playing Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania III) in its original form with the enhanced audio of the Konami VRC6 is 8-bit heaven. I need to get the Famicom Contra next.

The Famicom 3D glasses are also on my radar. Ed Oscuro, I might make an offer on those glasses we talked about some time ago if you've still got them!

Right now I am on a computer software kick. I just picked up Indiana Jones, Tie Fighter, and Dragon's Lair for the PC and picked up a couple of obscure C64 titles a couple of weeks ago. I spent the majority of my youth gaming on computers, so finding those same games in the wild is really enjoyable for me.

I just got over a SNES bug. It lasted for a couple months and I played some classics for the first time. I beat A link to the past for the first time! I loved it. I didn't like the dark world though...I didn't enjoy that half of the game as much as I did the first half.

I'm on an Xbox game buying binge lately. I keep coming across them dirt cheap, and I can't help myself. I loaned my Xbox to my brother around Thanksgiving, so I've been stacking up games for whenever I get it back (or whenever the 360's backwards compatability includes them).

I've had a bug for first generation Sega software for the last 6 months. Ever since I bought an Aussie SC-3000H for cheap and in good condition (Aus$50), I've been trawling ebay and pestering collectors for SG-1000 software. I have about 60-70% of all the officially released software, with at least half of it boxed with manuals. I think I might even have all of the cartridge software that was repackaged and released by John Sands in Australia - not sure though, I don't have a complete list. I'm putting that bug to rest for now though, I'll probably return to collecting Dreamcast games but I need a rest first, and time to have fun with these very old Sega games.

Agreed while the, FDS has it's load times i do like the extra sound channel it has.

Not to mention no pass words to mess with either... or worrying about a battery save.

Still i'll say this i got a kick out the sounds effects for zelda.

Far as link throwing his sword and such still i do miss the "heavey breathing" sound you get for each boss on the cart zelda.

I don't know the whole roar sound kind of annoyed me.

Well, I'm buying lots of Xbox 360 games, I love that system.

My classic concentration (that's a fun game) has been on original Game Boy carts, I'm up to about 145, and I'd very much like to get past 200 this year. Eventually, I'd like to have a complete set (loose carts are fine for me)

I had been buying up 360 games left and right up through the holidays, but right after that I got the classic bug again. I started to finish my Genesis CIB collection and am now down to 110 needed to complete the collection (out of 706). I am also collecting boxes for my TG16 collection. I recently finished my NGage and Tapwave retail collections, and am trying to finish my Gizmondo and Nuon collections, but those are harder to find games.

Still, whenever I see a CIB Super Nintendo game that I don't have, I get the itch to start collecting them. After the Genesis is finished, I'll probably move on to the SNES. Although I should probably finish Sega CD as that is part of the Genesis collection.

I've been steadily amassing a Japanese PS1 collection of notable size. But this has been going on for a while...getting close to a hundred I think.

I really want to get back into Mega Drive games, but I just haven't gotten around to it.

I am happy to report that for the first time in about seven years I am free of the collecting cooties. My e-bay account sits dormant. Has anyone ever looked at their "My Page" activity on e-bay and realized just how much $$$ you have spent over the past 90 days on games and want to drop a brick in your shorts? That has happened to me many, many times. Dammit.

I stopped collecting with the Dreamcast and don't have any of the last-gen or current-gen consoles.

I may get a PS3 in the next year and then it will start all over again.

Well I've got nearly every DC game I want other than the 3 shmups I have on pre-order, and a couple of fighting games to get. Oh, and I fancy a bit of Maraca shacking action too, strangely. I've also recently decided my NGPC collection is about as complete as it's getting, as I have all the games I want and will actually play.

And If you have bought an Xbox 360 wired controller and used it on your PC, I'm sure that you will agree with me: It makes PC gaming much better! Now I want to upgrade my PC!

Finally, If you have been watching the Angry Videogame Nerd's videos, You may want to play the games that he reviews no matter how bad they are. Well, I've been thinking of buying a Power glove.

Nokia N-Gage for sure, been buying the stuff like crazy, 24 titles to go for completion.

ASM (Aktueller Software Markt), German 80s/90s gaming mag (approx 120 issues for the whole run). . I have the first years run (86/87), but moving to UK prevented from continuing.
Now back in Germany I am trying to pick up the remaining issues About 50 issues to go for completion.

I'll sort of buy dozens of boxed/complete N64 games in a month, and then switch my focus to buying NES boxes (or boxed/complete games and then just taking the boxes from them).

I sorta went the other way on this, Im in the "sell everything except for a few select items" bug. Space concerns and overall lack of interest has made collecting sort of HO-HUM for me lately. I never had that much to start with, so I've been trying to sell off smaller "chunks" of my collection to free up some space.

But I will say, even though I'm parting with alot of odds and ends, I am still highly interested in SNES/N64/GBA/DS NFR Demos, and NES pirate carts, so those wont be going anywhere

I sort of went nuts starting in the new year. Didn't really have a collection before that, just a few NES games and a toaster that didn't have a power cable. Picked up a power cable for it, and that along with picking up an SMS w/games and a bunch of Colecovision games from my in-laws basement set me off. I quickly have picked up:

Colecovision system
Atari 2600 and the Sears atari console
Intellivision
Multiple NESs and I'm up to ~160 games
SMS original controllers and some games
SNES
several Genesises
2x Sega CDs (1 of each)
Genesis Nomad
PSX (mainly for FF games)
Saturn
Virtualboy

And of course games to go with all of those. A lot of this I picked up along with NES stuff (that I specifically wanted), and I just have a tough time parting with anything. So, right now I have more of the 'focus my collection' bug, so I'm selling the intv, genesis (just going to keep the Nomad), Sega CDs, an extra PSX w/ games I'll never play. I'm really on the fence about the Saturn, it seems cool, and I got it along with a bunch of games, but most of the games I think I'd want to play seem over priced for this system (damn collectors driving the prices up! ;) ). I'll probably sell it once I play/beat MegaMan 8 (and keep MM8 to complete my 'classic' MM collection). Haven't decided if I'll keep atari stuff, or just focus on CV for that generation. I'm so undecided on so much stuff... HELP! hehe.

The main bug I have, if any, is for the VirtualBoy... but so far it has been a tough itch to scratch (without shelling out for eBay prices). I love Craigslist, and that's where I've gotten most of this, but VirtualBoy stuff doesn't come along often.
