A month or two ago, I picked up a broken Goldstar 3DO in a thrift store and it was being sold in a bundle with a binder titled "3DO Demo Disc Program." The system didn't work, so I took it back but have kept the binder.

For someone not familiar with it, the binder is along the lines of the item you'd see here (not my listing).

I posted this in the Antique/Roadshow thread and I've waited long enough that I assume a reply isn't on the way.

I'll probably be looking to sell or trade it here on the forums over the next few weeks. So anyone who is interested in it and might want to make a deal in the near future ought to get in touch with me (my signature links to 40+ positive feedbacks here on DP). My investment was awfully small so I'm not asking for the $100 that guy got. I'll get that right out of the way in case someone assumes I'm looking for an "Ebay" price.

I've found very little in the way of information on this item, even on 3DO fan sites or around here. As for Ebay, that listing I linked is the only recent "completed" auction so I have no idea what the average going rate is. All I know was that the discs inside are full versions of the games, even though they state "Demo" and the contents were apparently meant for retailers. My main problem is that I don't know if I have the complete binder or if I am missing some of the contents (i.e. discs and paperwork). I seem to have most of the stuff listed in the Ebay auction I linked but I have no way of knowing how many different versions of the binder might have come out or if the one this guy sold was "complete."

So I'd be looking for a resident 3DO expert/collector to fill me in on what the complete version of the 3DO Demo Disc Program binder would include, so I know if I have it all or what is missing if I don't. Obviously, it'd be a big help since I don't plan on keeping it myself and will be looking to sell/trade it on the board sooner or later.

Hi there

i am a 3do collector and the demo folder i have looks like this, http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f105/Lemmi731/3dodemodiscfolder2.jpg

this pic is more of the extra stuff that came with mine, it has 16 CDs (15 games and 1 sampler/memory manager) the only game that i dont have is Shockwave which ive seen in other auctions
mine has the card for contacting a regional sales manager at 3do in it but its not in the picture

my games are - Escape from Monster Manor, Gridders, Way of the Warrior, Soccer Kid, S Wing Commander, Burning Soldier, Guardian War, Total Eclipse, John Madden, Road Rash, FIFA, Jurassic Park, Star Control, Twisted, Station Invasion, Sampler III w/Storage manager

and i dont know if there is anymore then the 16 total games with the sampler/manager, if there is i havent seen them

about 4 years ago they sold for around $40 to $60 bucks
these days ive seen them over $100, one even ended at $200+ but i think that one was a fluke

so what games/items do you have in yours?

and if you are selling it you might as well look at the site in my signiture as there are a few 3do collectors there looking for that folder that lost out on that auction you posted

good luck

I had one of these a couple of years ago that was exactly like Lemmi Is God's. I threw mine on Ebay so it's definitely possible that it's the same one.

These games in those binders are actually real games?

That helps, Lemmi. Thanks for the info. So it proves what I have is incomplete. I'm missing at least a few items. Good to know a few people are aware what I am talking about.

What I have is as follows:

-the binder
-Index/Tablet of Contents page which lists 5 games (Madden, Jurassic Park, Total Eclipse, Escape from Monster Manor and Twisted)
-John Madden Football sheet and original disc
-Jurassic Park Interactive sheet and original disc
-Total Eclipse sheet and original disc
-Escape From Monster Manor sheet (disc is missing)
-Twisted: The Game Show seet and original disc
-Road Rash sheet and original disc
-Star Control II sheet and original disc

Any other game in the original listing is missing and I assume there should have been a second (or even a third) index/Table of Contents page because the one I found only listed five games.

Aside from the discs, sheets and binders listed above, the other items listed below are also packed with the binder:

-Some generic leaflet, circa 1994, promoting upcoming games
-Goldstar 3DO owners manual (may not have been a part of the actual binder, I expect the old owner just stuffed this into it)
-A 4 page newsletter called "The 3DO Dealer" which talks about sales tips for retailers who have 3DO systems in their stores, pretty neat to see what they were sending out to stores
-A two-sided sheet which lists upcoming titles on one side and the other side gives phone numbers of regional reps that retail stores were able to call and order 3DO product from.
-A printed copy of an email sent to a guy who was apparently a 3DO retailer/dealer. It seems a woman owned the Goldstar 3DO that I received this binder with. I think the guy probably gave her the binder of demos and maybe even the system. She emailed the guy asking if he knows anyone at the company who will repair her broken 3DO or let her swap it for a new one. Now this wasn't part of the original binder but it is neat to see who had it.

So anyone who may still want the item, let me know. I do have a couple of PM's already. Based on the help I received above, it is about 35-40% complete (give or take). I'd be looking to either sell it or trade it. What I actually do have is in good condition. Some of the discs are clearly marked as being demos and others look almost the same as the retail versions of said games.
