I just grabbed this on a $15 BIN ($19 shipped priority) was this decent? I usually see them selling or BIN's for $30ish+

This is the AR plus that will allow import play right? I keep reading so many threads and posts that the better games are the imports when it comes to the Saturn so I figured I'd give this a shot. :)
Any game suggestions would also be appretiated. :) fighters/shmups or anything else that you can pretty much play w/o knowing how to read japanese.
Thanks

You should be able to play just about any import SATURN game on your domestic Saturn or vice versa with that bad boy. Of course for game that take the extra RAM cart you're going to have to deal with the dreaded "Swap Technique" between the SEGA load screen and the loading up of those respective games though. I've got one of those and another one from DATEL still lying around in my closet too, though I had to eventually buy me up (2) different JPN Saturns, simply because I mainly play the import stuff anyhow. Good to see ppl still interested in SEGA's "other" great system that simply didn't get the respect it deserved.
As far as for what games you might want to pick up...
Virtua Fighter 2
Groove On Fight
Metal Slug
Thunder Force V
Keio Yugekitai
*Psychic Warlock Assassin Taromaru
(if you can find one)
Layer Section
Layer Section II
BLAST WIND
Street Fighter Zero 2 & 3
LAST BRONX
SDF Macross: "Do You Remember Love"
Elevator Action Returns
(this however, is on Taito Legends Vol. 2)
Dynamite Deka /Die Hard Arcade
King The Spirits / High Velocity
Fighter's MegaMix
Panzer Dragoon Zwei
Willy Wombat
Assault Suit Leynos
Bulk Slash
Dead or Alive
and that's just what comes off the top of my head. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w318/50s_Brawler/Bogart.gif
Edit: *I see it's the AR with 4MB already on it, thus you might not need to do the "Swap Method" on games like Metal Slug or any of the KOF games.

I have that same cart and I love it to death.
If you are interested in fighters I might suggest "Asuka 120% Burn".
I personally play "Outrun", "Afterburner", "Space Harrier", and "Columns Collection" on my Saturn.

As long as it's a newer version you're set. As sometimes old copies are still sold on ebay (although not as common anymore) and these were made before Vampire Savior and for whatever reason give graphical glitches with the aforementioned and anything made afterwards that requires expansion. Luckily, there is an easy solder fix for this so if push comes to shove seek that out.
As for recommended games. With expansion:
Vampire Savior (big surprise)
Fighters History Dynamite
Dungeons & Dragons Collection
Astra Superstars
W/o expansion:
Battle Garegga
Elevator Action Returns (unless you have TL2)
Thunder Force V
Silhouette Mirage
Batsugun

Nice recommendations, Brawler.
The AR is great. Plug in your US Saturn and you're good to go! Though, oddly, my AR (same box as yours) does not play 4 RAM games, like SF Zero 3. I heard this was a flaw in some models... but cannot confirm. All I know is, it won't play the Capcom games like Final Fight Revenge, etc.
Anyone have this snafu?

Fighters History Dynamite
You're the 1st guy I've seen suggest FHD.
I love that game, it's a big guilty pleasure. Glad to see another fan.

Import saturn is all about that good arcade stuff. Don't forget Cotton II, Cotton Boomerang, Keio Flying Squadron II, HyperDuel, Metal Black, Salamander, Gradius, and Parodius deluxe packs. Oh, and Crows: the Battle Action.
Actually, Princess crown is a really good title. And if you expect to get Psychic Killer Taromaru, be ready to come off of about a good 300 bucks.
You can get a lot of good NEO GEO games for a fraction of the price on saturn. But they have some slowdown, so be warned.
Oh, and X-men vs. street fighter, Marvel super heroes, Final fight revenge, and you better get your hands on Radiant Silvergun-One of the most highly sought after titles.
