Official: Mercenaries 2 on 360, PS3, PC, and PS2!

Let's face it...the original Mercenaries is the best "sandbox" game ever released. The sequel was the sole reason I wanted a PS3. HA! I knew Pandemic wasn't going to throw away their brilliant IP by making Mercenaries 2 an exclusive.

Sweet! I was hoping it would come to the 360. Loved the first -- can't see how 2 will translate to the PS2 well anymore. Draw distance was bad on the first, I don't think being designed for next-gen hardware is going to help it much.

Hope it's as good as the first, which was one of my faves last gen!

I for one am glad it's going to end up on the PS2, since I have no intention of buying either an XBOX 360 or a PS3 anytime in the foreseeable future (like the next 2 years) if ever. It won't hold a candle graphics wise to the newer system versions no doubt, but then the 1st one didn't exactly have stellar graphics... but it was a great game. I only wish Criterion would release BLACK 2 to the PS2 as well in a similar move. The first one alone was beautiful to look at on existing hardware. MERCS II on PS2! Woo Hoo!!! I'm a happy man indeed.

Mercenaries was in IMO one of the very best sandbox-type games; the setting and story really lends itself well to this genre. I think the sequel could be a huge hit if they do it right.

In some recent interview the makers made it sound like Mercenaries 2 for the PS2 won't be the same game as the version for next-gen systems (going beyond just the graphical differences).

Major Suckage. 2007 took a MAJOR hit of awesome when GTAIV got delayed, now Mercs 2 got bit by the same bug. This year will still be decent, but with those two missing is a major blow for me. I fucking knew this would happen, too..

Roll on 2008, I suppose.
