Anyone else remember this game? They showed screen shots in the ODCM and had a fairly interesting write up. And then...nothing. The DC died and while many games in progress got ported or foreign releases, Picasso just vanished.

I've been trying to find info about this, and needless to say Googling it is difficult. I'm assuming the death of the DC had everything to do with the end of the game, but I'm curious if it was ever playable, how far along, etc., etc.

Anyone know anything?

In issue 8 of ODCM it has a preview of the game...but it's called Picassio. I'm sure researching will be easier with the correct name.

Didn't realize there was a GC port in the works:

Picassio
Developer: Promethean Designs
Publisher: N/A

What Was Promised
The flagship game of Promethean Designs, Picassio was intended to be one of the first non-violent action games. In the game, players controlled an art thief who had to use strategy, stealth, and high-tech gadgetry to avoid enemies and make off with millions in stolen art. This was one of the first games announced for the GameCube. A PlayStation 2 version was planned as well.

Where It Stands
Sadly, despite Picassio's unique premise and clever ideas, Promethean Designs never found a publisher for the title. Eventually, the company was forced to close up shop, and Picassio disappeared along with it.
