Is anyone other than me a fan of this 2003 action game? I remember LO Interactive mentioning a sequel, but so far it's gone off the radar. It be a shame if it was a one shot deal with especially how the game came to it's final conclusion... you know, with an open faced ending hinting at more to come. I found the game to be both challenging and frustrating at the same time, though a lot more enjoyable than other squad based games for not being so damned "technical". The soundtrack is something awesome too, I just wished that the game would've had some blood in it, but still it was a good title (to me) for it's 12 hour ride.

If a sequel does end up coming out would you be all over it, or "MEH" ??? I'm thinking the game didn't sell as well as they were hoping, but for a different spin on the action/adventure 3rd person RGS game, I can't understand how ppl couldn't like it. Not to mention for those of us who came up in the 80s it was the movie Red Dawn come to virtual life.

That was a great game. I'm hoping for a sequel as well. I loved the alternative history aspect of it.

A sequel was announced years ago but nothing came of it. I have a feeling it became Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. The gameplay seems VERY similar.

I would also love to see a sequel. FF2 would be a lot of fun on Xbox Live.

What system is Kane & Lynch: Dead Men on? I'd be interested in seeing this for myself.

There won't be a sequel, Electronic Arts owns the trademark to it. Then lo Interactive was bought by Eidos a year ago. If they (An other developer hired by EA) do make a sequel, it just wouldn't be the same.

DAMN! :(

You just ruined my hopes for a sequel, but I'd rather have the truth than to have continued living in a dream. I honestly didn't know about any buy out of lo Interactive, and man am I upset now. Now at least I understand why I couldn't find an official email address to email lo Interactive with pinning for a follow up, along with the usual petitioning to them. Of course how hard would it be for EA to find another development group to simply build upon what's already a completed product and possibly make it better? I mean I loved 90% of the game, but it did have some issues like hit detection at point blank range with an AK-47 or Franchi SPAS shotgun. And it could've been a "M" Rated game and had the blood (like it should've had, I mean it's WAR after all) in it. I think it be possible, but without Jesper Kyd coming back to score the game I don't know if I'd care honestly.

:frustrated:

I just saw so much more that could've been done with the storyline. If not a direct sequel maybe even a side-story taking place at the same time as Christopher Stone's campagin elsewhere in the country. There was enough info on the SAFN Broadcasts that indicated Chicago or ATL got Nuked (not sure which now), and that massive riots were going on throughout the nation, having the game culminate at the exact same time that Stone and his group stormed Governor's Island for the final battle. Guess this also means no more "Hitman" series as well. I'm not too big of an EA Games fan as a developer, but they have published more than a few games I love. I'm just glad I picked up the "Freedom Fighters" OST when I did now.

I HATED it POS garbage, the AI was terrible, the missions were terrible, I heard all this hype about it traded a good game for it and paid extra at the thrift store and was sorely disapointed I give it 2.5/10 and that's being nice.

I loved that game. It streamlined team based combat into something anyone could play and have a ton of fun with. Runs in 720p HD too which is always nice in an Xbox game.

What system is Kane & Lynch: Dead Men on? I'd be interested in seeing this for myself.

It's coming out around the end of June or so for the PC, XBox 360 and PS3. It seems EXTREMELY good from the previews I've encountered. The level of class and design IOI brings to the Hitman games but with Freedom Fighters' gameplay structure.

Game Informer did a sizeable feature on it a while back that I scanned if you're interested.

Actually I found an old thread I made. I'll cut and paste the scans/my thoughts on the game here since this will be the closest thing to a general IOI discussion thread:

Kane is part of a secret mercenary group known as The 7, his negotation abilities combined with his tactical prowess are how he got his position. For unknown reasons, he seemingly betrays The 7 in attempt to make off with a large bit of loot. Everything goes wrong and he's caught, a convicted killer.

He's on the same bus to the death house that's carrying Lynch, the psychopath. Lynch is an unrestrained berserker, the only thing keeping him in check at this point being his array of medications. He's on his way to the death penalty because during one of his episodes he completely and brutally destroyed his family, from his own perception he took a nap and woke up and they were all slaughtered around him.

Anyways a well planned escape is orchestrated wherein Lynch "abducts" Kane, they both end up with The 7 again.

The 7 have a new mission, Kane and Lynch must work together to recover that lost loot Kane had betrayed them for. If they pull it off without any major problems, Kane's reward is that they'll execute him painlessly and not annihilate his entire family. Lynch's reward is that he'll get Kane's job.

Various missions ensue. You'll also be able to hire and have additional mercenaries with you a la Freedom Fighters, up to twelve they say, though there'll also be slower moments. Lynch has to be kept on a tight leash, if he runs out of medication he may throw down his weapon and start bludgeoning a guy with his bare hands that you were originally trying to sneak past, etc.

Gameplay is very close to Freedom Fighters. Streamlined team combat where you hire other mercenaries with money instead of recruiting revolutionaries based on your respect level.

Cooperative play is included as well.

Here's the scans I had made of the Game Informer feature:

Didn't they announce a while ago that it won't be conming to the PS3? If so, damnit...

I don't remember them ever announcing this. The reserve SKU still seems present at Gamestop/etc. too.

Kane and Lynch is exclusive to Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

MS announced this at X06.

Honestly this always struck me as more of a timed (or even marketing like Assassin's Creed) exclusive. Even in this January 07 basically says that outright.

@ Neo Rasa

Man, thanks a million for putting up those scans and the synopsis of the Kane & Lynch game. Shoot I might just have to pick me up an Xbox 360 after all... between that game and Hard Boiled II: STRANGLEHOLD that be worth buying one right there for me. It'll have to wait though since I keep hearing that anyone without an HDTV might as well not even bother since a lot of the games out can't showcase in game text on a standard TV. :( At least, that's how I understand it. I'd really rather see a sequel to "Freedom Fighters" but I guess at this point we all gotta' take what we can get. Thanks again for the Intel/Info Drop.

Actually if I'm not mistaken it was heading to PS3 before MS bought rights to it.

But this has been pretty common lately so I don't know for sure.

No one but IOI knows for sure. When the game was first announced before Blood Money came out it was announced as "an original intellectual property being designed for the XBox 360." It was then officially announced as a 360/PC game but supposedly PS3 development was going on all the while. The X06 announcement was the only time it was ever said to be exclusive to anything. Who knows. Presently available information tells me it definitely will get a PS3 release. I think Eidos realized they need to get something on there ASAP and Tomb Raider Anniversary isn't upgradeable enough.
