I went through my mother's old notebook(God rest her soul :() and she had this interesting thing I saw about playing Sega CD 32X games on a CDX(since the CD door won't open with the 32X blocking the way). She wrote that she popped in the CD first, then she'd pop in the 32X and boot up the game that way. Obviously though, you cannot play Fahrenheit via this method(since you need to insert disc 1 first then swap out with disc 2 with the power still on and you need to turn off the power to remove the 32X), so I guess you can count at one incompatible game with the CDX.

Since I don't have a CDX or 32X(and hers broke around the time she bought the PS2 in 2000), my question is:

Does her method really work? I mean does anybody have a CDX/32X combination and a Sega CD 32X disc they could use to try this out and report here if it works. This could really be a great tip to add to the "Knowledge Base" should this prove to be true.

The door won't open all the way, but it opens enough to change / swap CDs.

I personaly have a CDX and a 32X. Yes they are both compatible. No, I don't have any trouble with disks. The door opens fine without the 32X getting in the way. My one and only problem with the setup is it makes it too tall for me to exchange a cartridge due to the shelf I have it on...
