I was just wondering.. out of curiosity.. has anyone ever had to call on PayPal to back up their statement:
"You're protected 100% against unauthorized payments sent from your account."
In other words.. has anybody ever had their account invaded or hacked into.. had someone buy stuff with YOUR money/credit and pay; then had to contact PayPal and ask them to reimburse you? Did you have to PROVE that YOU didn't spend the money? Or do they just unconditionally accept and rectify these sort of occurences based on word or faith?
Not that I'm planning anything, nor ever had it happen to me <knocks wood>.. I was just wondering if PayPal really makes true on vague statements like this.

I had close to $2000 stolen from my bank account and they came good for it.

Well.. in your case then.. I'd say that is even one step BEYOND this statement:
"You're protected 100% against unauthorized payments sent from your account."
I'm thinking more along the lines of someone falling to one of those fake PP e-mail scams and divulging their log-in info.. or simply someone getting into one's PP account; and then making purchases. So what you're saying is someone actually got into your account and then paid for some stuff using your bank account THROUGH PayPal? And PayPal actually re-imbursed you for that? That's amazing! Did you have to prove that the money taken wasn't done by you? Did payPal KNOW how they got to your money? In other words.. was it a security fault of their own or did you do something that let them into your account?
I just find it fascinating that after being a member for 7 years and them only siding with me once in a dispute (out of about 4.. ME filing against sellers.. never had a complaint against me as one) that they'd actually do something so honorable and compassionate without question. Hell.. that makes my little $125 judgement for goods never sent seem like small potatoes!

Someone in the New York/New Jersey area got my Paypal debit card info last year. They made a fake card and bought $375 worth of goods and services. I filed the paperwork with Paypal and I got all of my money back, and quickly as well. The Paypal claim system regarding eBay auctions is very flawed, but regarding theft they handle it quickly and professionally.
