Speaking of TMNT, I heard one of the NES games will be making it to Wii's Virtual Console.

I think I'm the only person on the face of the planet who didn't like the TMNT game, at all.
I guess I was already too old when the turtles became popular in the late 80's. Personally, I'd rather play The Simpsons.

While I'd be as stoked as the next person (if I owned a 360, that is), I would have to wonder if it would be the same gimped version we got as a bonus on TMNT2: Battle Nexus, with the music and voices replaced with what were apparently Casio samples.

This is a huge question--as parts of liscense have expired that Konami once had. We will see. Hopefully its not the botched one...

PartnerNet is basically a private network similar to Live for the use of developers. However some developers keep leaking the information that's available on there and it's really starting to piss people off.

Super Contra is a NES game. So, forget that one. This will be on Wii VC.
TMNT IV is a SNES game and an arcade title. Another likely Wii VC title.
Sunset Riders. SNES game and an arcade title. Again, seems more likely for a Wii VC launch.
Live Arcade is possible...I just don't see it being likely

I think you have it wrong. Its Microsoft that they are mad at because its taking a long time for them to get the game up in the arcade. The queue is pretty long I hear.
Press Outlets that have test kits have the right to publish whats up there.

Hahaha. Ever heard of an NDA?
Oh and Agbulls Super Contra has already been confirmed for XBLA. Super C, the NES port of Super Contra, may be on VC if Konami decides to go that way.

Woah, not even close. For anything beyond initial network testing, developers have to toss the game up on partnernet. Games can be up there weeks, even months before they're officially announced. One of the problems with partnernet is that everyone can see everything, and it's all free (downloads are free in partnernet). Now you have random websites who seem to have bought dev 360's on the black market, and they don't really know the rules. They're just going down the download list and announcing the games before the devs are ready.
How would you like it if you spent 2 years and a few million dollars working in secret in a game, and some punk with a stolen devkit makes the press announcement before you do?
I have some more info here:

They have a right to? No, they are under NDA and they are breaking it. Or they don't have an NDA, and don't care.

COWABUNGA!!!!
From Joystiq...
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will leap onto Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, March 14 at 0900 GMT, arriving one week earlier than predicted. For 400 points ($5) you can cop an unadulterated version of the classic seven-level beat-'em-up, complete with 4-player co-op via Xbox Live. For once we're not gonna gripe about another arcade oldie shuffling onto XBLA. Mutant turtles with ninja powers or a soda fountain jockey? There's just no comparison. \\^_^/
Two questions: Have you ever tried ice cream on your pizza? And
which turtle is your go-to guy?

Either Don or Leo were my go-to guys.

We may want to change the topic and remove the 'RUMOUR' status...

No, you're thinking of Microsoft points. Achievement points are publicly viewable accomplishments for doing certain things in games. Insane addictive.

Woke up early, downloaded the demo, played it for 2 minutes, plunked down the 400 points for it and already unlocked 2 achievements within the first stage. It plays exactly like it should, and although you have unlimited continues, it's still challenging to not die. I only have one itsy bitsy teeny weeny problem with it so far. In the beginning after splinter says "hang on april" the scene cuts out and the game starts. I loved seeing Mike fall on his face as they jumped to the building, but oh well, no biggie. You all have to get on co-op later.

Went and got some MS points after work this morning, and downloaded this along w/ Paperboy (HUGE waste of points for PB, IMO.) I am totally hooked on TMNT again. Multiplayer was a blast, but there was a little bit of lag in a few games that I played. A must buy for sure!
As for the intro animation, I noticed that as well. When playing on XBL, it will play out the full intro, just as long as no one hits a button.

That was a huge fear for me. Can anyone confirm this? I know I'll know for sure once I play it tonight. It sounds like the original theme does play in the intro though.

I've read elsewhere that the character designs (To reflect the new movie I guess) and some art have been changed as well, surprised no one is mentioning it here.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=819371
I don't like the game so I won't be trying it, but it sounds like its been changed a fair bit from the arcade original.

Looks like the music and voice overs are completely intact from the arcade original. Good to know :) Of course, know I'm curious as to why they gimped the version that came with Battle Nexus...
Gamereviewgod
03-14-2007, 08:49 PM
No real changes to the game itself. Character selection is altered to reflect the new movie, and the sound emulation is on the poor side. Otherwise, it's full intact.
The only thing changed is the portraits of each turtle at the character select screen, and the traditional crappy DE low volume sound. Everything else is the same.

Simple. Konami was being a cheapskate. They didn't want to pay Fred Wolf Films, or whoever owned the rights, royalties to use the music and speech clips that are taken from the cartoon show.

Has anyone beaten this 4-player coop online? I played on Wednesday night with 3 idiots. I kept telling them, "STOP using your special. It takes away hit points." I mean, cmon now...isn't this the oldest beat-em up cliche in the book?
:frustrated:
They responded, "No way it does dude. Its just a special move. Look how much easier it is to kill these guys."
Soon enough their response changed to, "Maybe he's right. I think I'm dying pretty quick."
Needless to say, I got to Krang by myself and died. The three of them got killed in the middle of the Technodrome, special-moving themselves to death.
Anyone else actually good at this and want to play so I can avoid the TMNT newb idiots?

I just got the demo last night. I wasn't aware that this was actually the arcade game until I went on last night and my friend says I HAVE to get TMNT arcade game - the same game we used to dump quarters in at Chuckie Cheese as kids! I am now waiting on my DOA arcade stick - should be here sometime next week. Then its on!

The special move doesn't take away any life. You may be thinking of the NES version. I always use the special and never die early or lose health. It helped a great deal in me getting the 250 point achievement.

The NES version didn't penalize your lifebar for using the special either. But in TMNT 3 on NES, TMNT 4 on SNES (don't remember about the arcade version) and TMNT THH on Genesis you used up some life everytime you used the special.
