This happens every few months at the Big Boxes. TRU, CC, BB and others clear stock like this regularly to get this 'old' inventory out of their stores. Most of the BB's arn't going to have 1/16th of this stuff but i'm sure everyones going to be jumping for joy to get that 1.99 Army Men: Sarges War game for the Cube. Most of the really good stuff has been gone for far too long.

If anyone finds anything at this sale, you've either:

1. Found a Best Buy that is brand-new or that no one shops in.

2. Gotten very lucky. You might want to consider the lottery today.

All of the SKUs for these games have been deleted in Best Buy's system. So they can't be looked up in their 'RSS', or inventory search, unless you already have the UPC or SKU handy. I tried checking a good number of the games myself at my store and had zero luck.

In my ventures to a couple of stores, I found 3 interesting games. One store had quite a few titles, but they were pretty much the garbage on the list. They were being taken off the shelf and placed in a cart, presumably to be stored in back and prepped to be returned to the warehouse.

I can't speak for every Best Buy store, but our game section was ravaged over the holidays, leaving only the crappiest of the crappy games(we have less than 10 titles for the DS right now, for example). Most of the stuff on this list is decent, but the thing is most of it sold over Christmas, if not earlier. Most stores had large dump bins of low-price software near the registers for impulse buys as customers waited in the long lines.

I found 4 Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, 3 Monster Hunter Freedom, and a Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on my first outing alone.

After that, I found all of the XBOX 360 games except Oblivion CE and Quake, and many, many more from the PSP and other systems.

Well, my personal trip to Best Buy was a bust. I think my local store is price gouging, because they do have clearance price stickers on a lot of older games, but they're not the same price listed in the first post.

Apparently, this Best Buy's idea of clearing out old GBA, DS, and PS2 games is marking them at $20 and $15 instead of $5 and $2. I didn't see a single game for $10 or less, and I looked very thoroughly, even at the games hidden behind other games.

These titles are not impossible to find, but they WILL be possible to find at low volume, or new stores.

I live in Arizona and work at 251 Arrowhead in Peoria. DO NOT GO THERE. We do too much business and have none of these games, like most of you are expecting. If you're an Arizona resident, travel up North to Prescott, where they do very little business, or Avondale, which does HORRIBLE business even for being a brand new store. Prescott had almost ALL the sku's I was interested in and Avondale had many.

I'm thinking about picking up a few, but I've got my mind on buying some other stuff at the moment so I dunno...May stop by Avondale, as the comic store I want to go to is very close to there.

As far as retail goes, that range is not considered high shrink. I know a lot of store managers who would kill to hit that number.

I managed a few games from the sale (Harvest Moon DS, Capcom Classics, Midway Classics, Sega Classics, Samurai Champloo). There was one other person in the store as it opened, and he was buying anything and everything on sale (multiple copies of two games I wanted - Gradius Collection, FFXI), so I can safely say our Best Buy is cleared out.

What kills me is I swear I saw many of the other games on the list only a week or two ago (especially the DS and GC stuff). Either some of these games were cleared out earlier, or they were sent to another store/warehouse.

Ah well, Harvest Moon is the one game I really wanted as a gift for a friend I'll be visiting in March. She'll be happy... but I kind of wanted one for myself too. Maybe I'll see if Walmart will match the price on my receipt :D

So, how are your chances tomorrow? Probably not very good if my local experience is any indication. Most games on the list have been out of stock for weeks and if I have to imagine that with how quickly the word on this sale spread, that a lot of people went out to buy games today in hopes of getting the prices adjusted tomorrow. Now, there are certainly deals left to be had out there, but expect a lot of competition for very few games. I'd expect there to be multiple people waiting in the parking lot when Best Buy opens tomorrow and it only takes one "cart guy" to wipe an entire store clean.

Just thinking out loud here, but it seems like everyone is trying to do the price reduction trick. I have to admit, I'll piss myself laughing if they don't honor that.

I found a few things, but only bought around $120 worth of stuff. 4 or 5 titles, and multiples of one of them. There were at least 7 or 8 people that grabbed baskets expecting to clean out shelves.

You know who you have to feel sorry for are the employees, they have NO idea what is going on, and you get this group of people who don't even have lists just bringing anything and everything up to the register so they can take their time trying to price check everything. THis Asian lady must have brought up 10 of every popular title thinking she can run away like a bandit.

But whats funny is seeing how many people walking around with lists in the game section as the employees look around all confused as to whats going on.

The $1,273 was the price match refund I got from the $1,500+ I spent between Saturday morning and Sunday evening.

It was very successful for me.

The only thing I really wanted that I didn't find was the Oblivion: CE (XBOX 360).

Some of the games were cheap for some time now, but for $2 they were even cheaper and at a price I pick up almost every game!

For you who are overly pessimistic about clearance sales...there is no reason for sarcasm or pessimism. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. The last TRUS sale and this sale didn't work out for me so well for sure, but there were sales I bought 60 games or 15 and got almost every precious title I wanted for very cheap.

Even today I got QUake 4 for ten bucks. Not bad. Even the sub-par Zathura for two dollars is worth picking up. Almost every game for two bucks is worth to have on the shelves. :) A LOT of games I wanted I didn't get, but the games I got I got very cheap. :)

I missed the sale yesterday to do a price adjustment today, and today I didn't have the time and moreover not the patience to go to more than to one BB. In MIlwaukee you have to be very fast with those sales.

Still, I'm satisfied with my very mediocre haul although I didn't get Pokemon XD or MotoGP 06 and MANY other games I would have grabbed for these prices. :)

I just got back from a local BB and......it was a bust. Apparently, if you didn't show up in the morning when they opened, then don't expect to find anything when you get there later in the day.

I found plenty of holes where clearanced games once lived. But wait, what's this? I found ONE NDS game: The Urbz. Guess what? It was ringing up at $14.99 and not the $1.99 listed in..the list.

I'm thinking the employees picked these clearance games clean to boot.

In a related note, I was in Calexico this evening and I decided to take a peek at one of the local stores that sells video games. And what did I see there?

Twenty of the PS2 games that were on clearance today. They weren't there last week. I'm sure that rat bastard picked the San Diego Best Buy store clean and he'll sell each game for $30. I've always hated that store, and now I hate it even more.

When I went to the BB on 6th ave in Manhattan, a bunch of kids beat me to the punch and were just gangbanging every rack grabbing every possible title. Meh. Then I went to the BB in Brooklyn and the guys there shooed me out, telling me that the list was a fake. Guess they were pissed off at me for helping a guy realize that the Wii would be a better choice for his 9 year old than a PS3 after listening to some BB employee spew a whole bunch of bullshit about how the PS3 is a great investment now because it will get great in about 2 years. Fuck em, I don't care, didn't really need any of it anyway.

For the record, I picked up about a half dozen games at my local BB. ONE copy of six different games that is.

I'll probably be called sour grapes for this post and I don't give a shit. I'm not from your area and wouldn't have benefited if you'd left something for others but I wonder what other gamers here ARE from your area and came home with nothing.

I don't buy games like this for eBay. What I do feel I have the right to do is to buy extras to trade for games that I can't find otherwise.

I believe in helping other gamers on forums. If you can't find a game in your area, but I can; and I can't find a game in my area, but you can - we trade.

Simple concept.

What I don't believe in, is leaving games like this for the jerks who DO sell on eBay, etc.

Every game I bought a single copy of was for me.

Every duplicate was either for a friend, or for trade materials.

Since I'm realistic in my trading, there have been a LOT of happy people today.

SO get your facts straight before you get all high and mighty!
