Hmmm....been awhile since I traded in only for cash. As I recall (and it may be different now), you'd get half you trade-in value if you went for cash. So, $10 in trade would equate to $5 in cash. Not the best deal at all. Trade in Kingdom Hearts for - say - $20 in credit, and you'll only get $10 in cash. Hardly worth it.

They used to give you cash for 30% less than the Trade In Credit voucher....Only they wouldn't give you cash on the spot, they'd mailed you a check within two weeks. But then, of course these were the days of Funcoland and not the Funcoland/Babbages/Gamestop/Software Etc. conglomorate we know and love now. So unless the value is under $5 total for everything, you'll get stuck with store credit. And I've found in NYC this rule does not apply.

So now here I walk with 54 cents and 10 cents store credits.... >:( Not even worth the thermal paper it's printed on.

Actually, Gamestop store policy is to remove the soul from every customer that trades games in, thus making the customer self abusive.
You can tell that it is working, because anyone who has ever traded into Gamestop is kicking themselves right now, I guarantee it.

I guess I have a small gripe with them. All the gamestops in my location have stopped selling and taking anything 16-bit or prior. This means I don't have a flow of NES or SNES games anymore. I learned this when I hauled 2 NES systems down there, hoping to get 70 bucks store credit. I did this on the day Mario Sunshine came out, hoping to use it towards the game. They told me they had changed their policy, would not take anything 'old', and had shippied all of their pre-playstation games and game systems down to your guys, in the lower 48. Totall suckage for me.

Maybe it was a sign, a stroke of luck that I ended up not paying full price for Mario Sunshine. I found it 3 weeks later at a pawn shop for 19.

Did I even mention anything related towards your question??? Oh, guess not, oh well....

They only give you credits instead of money which isn't fair because they give you less for games that you paid a lot for.

Some stores are given the option to give out cash to trade in customers. To my knowledge this is stell less that the amount you would get in store credit. But the option may be at your store, just have to ask ~_^

It's store credit only. That way the store makes a profit. If stores such as
Electronics Boutique, Gamestop/Funco, & others gave cash, all they would do is have a line of customers who wanted cash, get said cash, turnaround and walk out the door. Now I know that some of these stores have some really crappy Trade in prices, but some are really fair also.

Example: Someone buys a Ps One for $50, a month later is tired of it, takes it to Gamestop, gets $30 in credit, the company only sells that Ps One for $40. I believe that is fair.

You can hate on EB or Gamestop all day about those Trade in prices, but no one forces you to do it, and remember not to bitch too much about those poor employees at these stores, becasue they have no control over these prices at all. If you really want cash that bad, take it to a pawn shop or flea market and see how much you get for it.

Oh, and Cheesystick, expect to see all 8-bit & 16-bit games gone at most or all Gamestops by the end of the year. :( Making room for all the new stuff means the old stuff has to go.

It's a damn shame about that. They don't know what they're doing.

EXACTLY!!! But in the case, I guestimate $10-15 max. If you can wait awhile, be the direct seller and throw it on eBay.

Not everyone has the time or resources to put every little thing they have on ebay. And with 80 million Ps One's out there, who's gonna spend more than $30 on it anyway, plus shipping, and insurance? Just go to your local store and buy one.

besides, with all the complaints, maybe we should have a new poll in the section:

Who's more evil: EB & Gamestop or eBay??

Fire when ready!!!!!!

Ah, all I know i that I know everyone that works in my local gamestop, and they know me by name, what does this do for me you ask? Well, I work at Mcdonalds to get some extra cash, I slip them a few drinks or a little food, they turn their backs and I grab 2 or 3 NES/SNES games, it really pays to know people.
