Ok, I know there are some issues with this, but I cannot seem to find a list of what games and on what hardware revisions.
Anyone have a list, or can link me to one?

I can name one for you. Rolling Thunder on one of the Namco Museums. Runs in super slow-motion.

If I am not mistaken the Tomba series has trouble running on the PS2 for some reason. On a better note Chrono Cross looks amazing on the PS2..sorry to be off topic.

Suikoden 2 and Thousand Arms seemed to give me some sound issues.

I heard Metal Gear Solid's ending crashes the game. Is that true? I wanted to buy a PS2 soon, and MGS was one of the first games I plan to hunt down...

Two well known problems...
Final Fantasy Anthology:
The Final Fantasy V disc won't play at all in a PS2.
Wild ARMs
Certain boss battles will lock up the game.

I've never had a problem playing it. Final fantasy VIII and Thousand Arms gives my PS2 some trouble booting up.

I've read that Mortal Kombat Trilogy tends to freeze up and glitch on the PS2. I've never owned a copy, so I haven't tested it myself.

It only freezes up if you let the continue screen countdown to zero. Its weird, other than that though it works great.

That list for the slim PS2 is too long. Long enough, that it kinda makes me glad I stuck with my original PS2.
I actually own Namco Museum Vol. 1, but I've never tried to play it on my PS2. Although, if I did want to play it again, I can use a PS1 or my computer. Not too big of a deal.

Say what? I never had any trouble other than glitchy text on the save screens.
Also, the Arcade Party Pack freaks out on 720 and Toobin' IIRC. Something about the emulation of that hardware the PS2 doesn't like.

Its missing few other games that I know didn't work on the original Launch units (which carried thru up to the slim systems as well), but I can't seem to find that list anywhere (and it doesn't seem to be on Sony's site anymore as I looked around there for like a half hour when I first saw this thread this morning). The list for original games not working right was 15, and most of those were early titles that didn't have a huge following to them so it wasn't an end of the world kinda thing.
Those I know don't work include
Wing Commander III (just didn't work)
Tomba! 2 (the intro would work, but you couldn't start a new game or load one because it would just freeze)

There's some other games that don't work on the old model PS2
WWF War Zone
GTA London 1969
Arcade Party Pak (some of the games)

Mortal Kombat Trilogy also freezes up on the PS2 after you win an 8-man Tournament with anyone.
Hot Wheels Turbo Racing also has some problems on the PS2 (from my experiences). If you let the intro play, then the game will freeze. If you skip the intro and play the game, the game runs fine.

Most of the arcade classics compilations seem to have issues.

Anyone happen to have a copy of Jumping Flash however they can test on a PS2 for me?

I have a PS2 slim v.12 (model SCPH-70012) , and tried the following games with the following results:
Driver - ok
Final Fantasy V (from Anthology) - was fine (?)
Gundam Battle Assault - no CPU option in Versus Mode, Story Mode ok
GTA London (Coll. Ed & Director's Cut) Neither boots, asks for GTA disk
Namco Museum Vol. 1 - boots, would not load selected games
Namco Museum Vol. 2 - ditto
Namco Museum Vol. 3 - again, ditto
Tomba! 2 - plays ok, maybe sluggish loading, needs "smooth" option on
Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger (small jewel case) - FINE!
I didn't spend TOO much time with any game, except Driver, Tomba! 2 and Wing Commander LOL as they worked and I hadn't had them in a system in a while... figured I'd have some fun.
And now... sorry to jump the thread, but since the opportunity is presenting itself, I'm taking advantage of it. If I'm out of line please accept my apologies. Just let me know and I'll gladly edit!
I planned on having an extra console for my mostly PS1 collection. After acquiring several PSX bundles for game content I now have an abundance of PSX consoles. They are mostly model SPCH-7501, which have the I/O port in the back. They will accept "game shark" devices that allow you to play IMPORTS, or backups of LEGALLY owned games of yours, if you so choose.
I also have transparent cases in the following colors: pink and clear (these 2 already have console in case), clear with light tint, blue, and smoke.
If anyone is interested in a PSX console, case, or combination please PM me. Make an offer if you like; prices (or trades?) will be reasonable, with shipping at cost. Been dragging my feet on putting these up, so why not mention them now?

(re: FF Anthologies)
Say what? I never had any trouble other than glitchy text on the save screens.
I was working at EB at the time and I can personally attest to FFA not working on PS2s. However, FFA was reprinted later and the later printings were corrected.
My impression of the whole BC difficulties was that it was centered around games that were themselves ports/emulations of earlier games on different systems.

Jumping Flash! worked fine when I just put it in to test it. All I did was watch the demo and play a bit of the first level, so I can't say for sure if it works to the end.

The FF Anthology issue is simply graphics corruption on the save game screen. Tomba is, unfortunately, unplayable since it locks up on the load game screen.

Two Japanese games that don't work with PS2:
Monster Farm (I don't know if Monster Rancher has this problem though)
Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus (Runs way too fast)
