I snagged MLB 2K7 on my 360 yesterday and played half a game last night. They have fixed almost all the issues from 2K6 (which was total garbage in my opinion) and really made a nice game this year. And, if it hasn't been explained enough in the reviews, the game looks absolutely outstanding.
Is there any desire to start a DP league online? It would be a cool way to ensure we don't have to play against the usual racists and kids. I don't know much about starting one--but could figure it out if there's a desire to.

Yeah, I grabbed it right away & love it so far. I actually tried to get it Monday & they said they`d be fined $10,000! LOL! I`ve never really done a league before, but it sounds interesting.

Oh man, I totally forgot about this one. I want to get it soooo bad but I hate spending $60 on new games. Maybe playing the demo will help decide if it's worth it though.
I love playing games on Live but baseball games are a different story for me. Seems like 90% of the time if you're winning, the other person will quit in the 9th inning. Do you automatically get the win if they do that? Shit like that drives me insane.

Im going to have to wait until the price drops, I can't bring myself to spend $60 on a sports title. I did however watch someone spend $120 yesturday on 2 copies while I waited behind him with my BB Clearance games. LOL.

You know, the demo for this game really didn't do much for me. The pitching interface was ok. I found the hitting interface to be borderline useless, and fielding was very difficult (angle of camera too low, and the help circle was too faint for me to see). It definitely looks nice, but I still don't think it beats MVP 2005 by EA. Maybe I'll just grab the College game, take Ball State to Omaha :)

I not much of a baseball fan but I will say I love the mlb 2k7. Mlb 2k7 has an excellent presentation that will be hard to beat. I played the demo and initally found the batting hard I would switch to the classic style press a button to swing. When I bought the game I thoughly read the how to bat tutorial and I like that batting interface as well. I feel it is an excellent baseball addition to the next gen library. It is a deep game yet easy to pick up and play. Graphically to me the best bball game to date bar none. The funny thing is IGN gave this game a low review and you look at all the reader reviews a whole heap of 9-10s. The Reader reviews tell the truth and also count the fact that there are alot of mvp fanboys reviewing and likeing as well.
I am a casual gamer so I will leave all the franchise and stuff to the other reviews but for a solid next gen addition it gets my 2 thumbs up.

Yeah, I get into a league with you. As long as it`s 162 game flexible schedule. I like everything to be as real as possible. Keep the playoffs at the real settings & all the hoopla!

2K Sports actually got the producer of MVP to work on this game. You can definitely tell, because it's dramatically improved over last year. I could get this game for $48.99 which isn't too bad, but I'm going to hold off and try to pick it up for $30 used. I'm cheap like that.

I've heard this game is unplayable online. Apparently the lag is so bad, that when a pitch is thrown, it's impossible to get the timing down on when to swing because of the lag. If this is true, then it pretty much kills the game for me, cause I get tired of playing computer opponents after awhile.

Well, its official-- I now think this game is broken. I took this past week to try to get use to the hitting mechanics and have decided it just can't be done. Compared to last years MLB 06 The Show on PS2, the actual gameplay in 2k7 just doesn't compare at all. :frustrated:
Pitching is awkward.
Batting is impossible.
Fielding is retarted.
I think they modeled the flowing uniform physics for 8 months and did nothing else.
I have friends at an EB who are going to exchange it for the Show on PS3 for me (good guys!) in May. But, in the meantime, how should I get my baseball fix? I've thought about getting The Show 07 for PS2 for a month. I need to start my season somewhere...
Anyone else feel this way about 2k7? The graphics really wowed me at first...but the gameplay really kills it.

You guys are nuts. I love this game :D You gotta tweak some options here and there (I like to have the pitching camera from behind the batter all the time.. also you gotta turn on the strike zone so it's visible, etc.).
The swing stick works great. After 2k6, I just can't go back to batting with a simple button press! the feel of pulling back to time it, then pushing forward for power or just letting go for a swing is the way to go for me. I also dig the pitching mechanics.. aim first, press and hold button for amount of spin (which is visible) and press 2nd time for accuracy. I dont know what else you're looking for but that works great as well :P
This has fixed all the bugs of 2k6 more or less like the outfielders falling down when hitting a wall then being useless, etc. I think it works great
Overall.. an 8 out of 10 :)

Well MLB 07: The Show on PS2 could have spent a little longer in the cooker as well. Many reviewers fail to mention it, but the framerate gets pretty jerky when a batter puts a ball in play, I've missed a few easy fielding plays because the screen was so choppy. I don't quite understand it, but it really irraritated me the first time I played it. It doesn't make the game unplayable, but is a pain in the arse at times. MLB 06 didn't suffer from the same problem, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I would wait until the PS3 version comes out and see if they fix the problem.

I had heard the fixed the problem in the 360 version of overrated players. Is that true? In the PS2 version there are at least 50 players, including the aging slugger Griffey Jr, that are all rated perfect 100's. The Twins have five players, and although I'm a huge fan, their team would probably only have one player rated that high (Johan Santana). I've been disappointed by the 2K Baseball games in the past, and this one showed a glimmer of hope, but I'm still sticking with MVP 05 and MLB 07.

I know, I know. But, there are a handful of screens on IGN and the game's official site. They don't look anywhere near as good as 2k7 but I'm hoping for any kind of improvement of the PS2 version---including a steady framerate. What I really want (and mind you I despise EA) is a new MVP. I still say MVP 05 is the best modern baseball game I've played to date.

I've taken the time to wade through the garbage pages on gamefaqs to find these absolutely fantastic adjustments for MLB 2k7. I've never seen sliders for a sports game change the gameplay this dramatically for the better. These need to be attributed to the "bored wanderer." My only personal recommendation is to bump up the AI contact +5. You'll find you're hitting the ball more, there are a lot less homeruns and it actually feels like a real pro game.
What do you guys think?

All they need to do is release a copy of World Series Baseball II for the Saturn on the DS. That game is incredible, and would make the perfect portable baseball experience.

If you really think that these tweaks and sliders make that much of a difference can you please list all that you're using?
Sorry I only saw this now.. but it looks like you've been tweaking them a bit yourself above! :)
Really the main tweaks i do are:
1. Camera always behind the batter (i.e. Pitching Camera: Behind BATTER). I hate playing the game looking at the pitchers back. Basically this preference came out of initially playing the game with 2 players in which case that is the default view (obviously so the other guy can bat :P). So, I got used to that. I do dig the larger view of the strike zone for the pitch aiming and the closeup of the ball spins before letting go, etc :) If you're looking from behind the pitchers back, all that stuff is long distance.
I'm typing stream of thought....Did that make any sense above? :? LOL
2. Turning on the Strike Zone. With 2 players, it's always on. When on single player it dissapears for some odd reason. I like it on so I can aim!
Aside from that, yep little things here and there can really affect the game like the difficulty level etc. The thing about this game is there's like 2 different menus where you can set options so it can get confusing. But it really does affect the game! But again, it looks like you know this now :)

Yah, I've been messing around with the sliders quite a bit because it seems like there is a solid baseball game hidden in here somewhere...I just need to use the sliders to find it. I'm still dealing with hitting, which I'm having trouble with. Turning the batter zoom to max has helped--and increasing the contact slider as well. From what I understand, to make it perfect you also need to slow down the pitch speed slider so you can actually see the rotation on the ball. I'm going to try that tonight. The only real big problem for me is fielding honestly--it almost feels like my players are running with weights in their pockets.

Are you pressing the speed burst button when fielding?
I think it's the right trigger.. The fielder should have a boost bar that depletes while you chase that pop up

I know you have to hold the right trigger to run. I think I might have lowered the fielder speed too much. The crazy thing about the sliders is that they all (obviously) directly affect each other. Getting everything perfect is absolutely maddening.

Hell yeah world series baseball on the saturn is still one of my all time favorite baseball sims I still have all three although when they went 3d with 98, it got a bit ugly.... still great game, good call.
obtw the PSP version is WAAAAY better than the HORRENDOUS DS version, if you guys are looking for a portable baseball fix, although I prefer MLB 07 myself.

Well, I decided to give this one another shot. I didn't see the sliders that agbulls posted above, so I'll need to try them tomorrow. I played as the Twins (as I always do), and had to face off against the Orioles. By, the top of the third inning I had already amassed 9 runs (5 HR's) on 10 hits. Did I mention I was the home team? This game is broken on the default settings. My offense is rated one and a half stars out of five. Nick Punto hit one 410ft.!!!!! 4 of 5 home runs were opposite field homers.
I can't stand the commentary of Jon Miller to top it all off. I'll try the settings tomorrow, but this one will probably get donated to a friend.
P.S. I'm playing it on the PS2, not a next-gen console. I also used the All-Star difficulty.
