View Full Version : I did a really dumb thing (and now need big help)

See the title? This sums up my problem rather perfectly (and please, no scolding-I know I screwed up big time).

Anyways, I tripped and spilled some milk and, while neither one got the brunt of it, my Twin Famicom and TurboDuo were close enough to get a bit of a bath. So, enough with the story, here's the sitch:

TurboDuo:
-HuCard slot is intact and functions fine
-The internal memory is in perfect working order, with all saves as they should be
-The CD drive spins and spins, but the laser won't load discs, or even begin to read them

Twin Famicom:
-Cartridge mode results in a blue screen
-Disk mode results in a flashing black/grey screen
-The FDS drive tries to read a disk (there's none in the drive)

Any hints on to whether or not either system can be repaired/salvaged are welcome (if not, they're going to the 'Bay in as-is/broken condition in an effort to recoup some semblance of their value).

Two questions about the Turbo Duo:
1. Have you cleaned the lens? (Rubbing alcohol, etc)
2. Do the discs spin to full speed, or do they sound like they're spinning up and stopping before reaching full speed?

Well, this is odd....

When I fired up the system again, it went into the load cycle (laser shifted position, busy light, you get the idea), but came up with a read error (halting the spinning before it could even start). So, I cleaned the lens and now the disc won't spin or load (the laser is now in the "out" position), but the red "Busy" light does nap on. I'll probably wait until Lost gets over with in an hour to try again.

EDIT: No change.

Just to update:

The TurboDuo's CD drive is still, for all intents and purposes, inert. The Twin Famicom, however, is fully functional. It is invincible, I tell you, Een-Vin-Ci-Ble!!!!!

(Hey, I'll take my victories where I can get them.)

EDIT: Never mind, the TurboDuo lives, too. Apparently, I just needed to smack it around a couple of times. (Please lock.)
