HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120092929753)

As I said in my B&S thread.. I've decided to sell the entire collection in console-specific "lots". The first; and biggest one, is now up on a ten day auction. If anyone here who is a forum member wants to know the reserve feel free to PM me.. but ONLY through the forum.. I won't divulge that over eBay. Yeah.. I know.. reserve=bad participation.. but I can't afford to watch this go for $200 on a "bad day" on eBay.

Wish me luck! ;)

Hmmm.. strange.. I can't seem to get hyperlinks to come out in any color except white default all of a sudden.

bump..

..reserve has been lowered.

edit (9:30 PM):

RESERVE HIT!!! I'M STOKED! 5 DAYS to go!

Try and find the reserve hint in my ad.. somebody must have. How much higher than the "other guy" do you think this will go?

Yesterday I was talking to my friend about this and he just couldn't believe someone would pay the reserve. I gave him a prediction. Can't wait to see him tomorrow night when his vacation starts (we're going to drink some beer).. I'm gonna' make him "eat" his words.

I wish you the best in your efforts to raise money for what I consider to be a very noble cause. God bless you man.

Thanks mills.. I haven't told my mom yet.. but I think we're going to Reno soon. ;)

I'm gonna' get a new TV out of the deal.. my 20 year old RCA TV is getting long in the tooth. I'll be able to grab one of those flat-front CRT TVs now before they disappear.

I think I also talked my cheap-assed, selfish, uncaring brother to go in half with me on an adjustable bed for mom (which she'll need soon) so I won't have to foot the entire bill for that (after all.. it was HIS idea).

Things are lookin' up!.. kinda' :| .

Now that this thing has hit the reserve almost 3 days and nobody else has the guts enough to bid on it (37 people watching though). I'm gonna' lose it if he ends up getting it for that. The guy's auction I linked to at the bottom of the ad had almost half that stuff (crappier titles too.. 'cept for VP.. which I don't have) and he got $1275! I'd actually bet my life that's where this guy's proxy bid tops out at. He saw my hint and went for it. Now he'll probably end up getting twice as much for even less. :(

How do YOU build a fire under bidder's/watcher's asses? If everybody waits until the last 5 minutes to even bid.. IM the loser.

I can't believe someone had the balls to offer you 475. What an asshole. The internet makes people act so strangely.

Good luck... hope it goes up more for you

Haha.. that was the FIRST day of the auction too and I woke up to find all three of those messages. I gave them all the same "form" answer, and then debated over whether to make them public or not.. but I did. I thought I was going to deal with that sort of thing throughout the WHOLE auction (Which is why I eventually put up a "hint") but oddly enough.. I haven't had a single question since then.

It's NOT that I'M trying to be an asshat either.. it's just that I can't believe some people don't read the "terms" in an auction of this magnitude or importance. I mean.. I WOULD.. but that's just me.. I enjoy reading ;).

The way I see it right now.. if it goes for this.. he'll have gotten the entire lot for about $10 a title (not to even mention the hardware).. that would be a HELL of a deal.. especially considering he DOES appear to be a reseller (specializing in PSX FF titles.. it seems.. not that i have all of those either). Any of those titles are worth at LEAST $10 complete; and I made a point while collecting them NOT to concentrate on REAL "commons". Most of what I bought were Mecha, RPGs and oddly enough.. off the wall recommendations I would find on obscure PSX fan/review sites. Some I simply bought AFTER I'd gotten the PS2 sequels (like Galerians and Echo Night) to complete a set.

Let's face it though.. a LOT of dealers/resellers are NOT collectors. They have no idea about obscure titles.. or their worth. I can't count the times I've had resellers look at my collection.. offer me a lowball figure.. and make the comment.. "You've got a LOT of commons".. when in fact.. there aren't in my collections. I have no Mario.. I have no Sonic.. I have no Tomb Raider.. crap like that.. to me.. are commons. To a dealer.. if he's never heard of a title.. it has no more value than a real common. I'm not saying that all resellers are without knowledge.. it just seems that way.

no they read it, but to them is comes accross as desperate and you NEED to sell this as opposed to WANT to sell....anyway gl with the auction, looks like it's going good so far....don't worry that last min or 2 will make you happy:)

I believe your auction is going very well. I have seen alot of lots lately top out at 800-900. The heart of your listing is the bunch of heavy hitting rpgs. People know they are there. The bidding will catch fire the last hour.

The only thing I see missing is suikoden 1&2 and valkrye I know the watchers and bidders are thinking where are they at?

In the last three months these are the ONLY titles I sold out of my collection:

Alundra 1 & 2
Azure Dreams
Saga Frontier's 1 & 2
Suikoden 1 & 2
Saiyuki
Hoshigami
Brigandine
Team Buddies

.. I never got my hands on a copy of VP. I got semi-low prices out of the two Suikodens (I was desperate and had a BIN at the time.. sold VERY fast), Brigandine and Team Buddies did phenomenally well. All the others pretty much went for what they were worth.. so I can't complain.

I miss the Suikoden's though.. never really got to play them that much.

Not a specific amount prediction, but in my experience 90% of the bidding happens in the last hour. I don't think you should be worried.

I really dislike the way things always get last minute bids. But people get so hung up on WINNING that they bid just to win. A last minute bid can therefore get a lower price many times. Nerve wracking for the seller.

We were discussing this in the Auctiva forums a couple of weeks ago. All of these "tactics" a seller has to use nowdays to get a decent price out of their auctions has their advantages and disadvantages.

I mean sure.. last-minute bids are good and all (as opposed to NO bidding); but what is better for a seller? Steady/constant bid increases during the entire length of an auction, or 100 people who have an item on their "watchlist" and join in at the last minute?

I think steady bidding is better. The way I see it.. in a case such as mine for example.. my reserve was $1050 and it was hit almost 4 days ago now.. and there hasn't been one more bid since. The two dozen people who have put it on their watchlist since then in fact.. don't even know there WAS a reserve anymore.. or what it was at (eB USED to put a little notice right by the bid amount that a reserve had been met.. it looks to me that they stopped that.). One of the disadvantages of losing that feature is that nobody but I KNOWS that this guy has "proxy" bid HIGHer than that reserve. So now they all "sit" on it thinking, "All I possibly have to do is get a $1075 bid in on it and I'll win." A few might even proxy bid a bit higher.. say $200 over the price it's at now.. to try and "assure" a win; but the end result is you have 50 people entering bids in the last minute all with the same figures in mind and as a result due to time constraints.. your final bid ends up very little higher than the one you got days ago.

I realize this is what your saying as well.. but I've always used this argument to point out why "healthy" bidding ends up with a higher price in the end. Steady bidding maintains interest.. competition.. and simply keeps people thinking they have more of a "chance" of winning. It seems everytime I list a "big ticket" item (my Turbo duo comes to mind from the past) it follows the pattern this sale is following now.. reserve or not (which is also an oddity in itself).

There's almost 3000 individual domain hits on this auction as of today. Dealers, collectors, curious passer-bys.. ALL see the current $1000 bid and think "that's a lot of money." (which it is..) and tend to either then tag it as a watch.. or move on. NOT realizing that if THIS dealer gets this bundle at $10 a title.. he's probably getting the sweetest deal of his life and is going to make one hell of a profit over me on all this stuff. Look at the deal he scored a few weeks back HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200076052619). Hell.. he got 27 titles (Approx. 1/4 that of mine.. and not even ALL of those were RPGS) and was willing to pay almost HALF of what he may end up getting mine for! Even more ironic is the fact that MOST of those titles ARE in my lot (save the FF compilation titles).

I know.. like my friend says.. I could drive myself crazy fretting over this.. and LIKE he is SO fond of pointing out.. I AM getting my reserve.. but that's my point. It should be going over that based on my past observations, by a bit more. It just seems that's always my luck whenever I list something.. I end up on the lower end of the scale.. while others around me are getting "top dollar" for their crap. It seems no matter how hard I try (listing features, tactics used, layout & design, etc) it never makes a difference for me. It took me ten solid hours to design this auction, even in Auctiva.. whether it hit reserve or not.. what with it being a Pro Pack feature I'm going to be out almost $100 on this auction alone (I gained back a whole $12 when it hit the reserve) and now I'm wondering if it's even worth it. If I wasn't selling this stuff for the reason I am.. I wouldn't be that concerned; but the more money I make.. the more good things I can accomplish with it (not that I'm totally selfless either) for my family and their current situation.. AND me.

I based my reserve AND my final prediction on THIS (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220086261573&rd=1&rd=1) auction. Crappy assed pictures, half the titles I have and this guy ends up with a price like that. Somebody hates me. I predicted $1800 to my friend about a half week ago.. now it looks like I'll be lucky if it even ends even with his.. and I'll have to eat crow in front of my friend.. once again. Shit.

..Time to go read The Secret or something. ;)

Trust me it's going higher, resellers won't let it go that cheap. really you should just forget about it and then check back after the auction ends.

Good advice.. I think I'm going to do just that.

On a side note though.. I came home tonight and found some of the "strangest" PMs on eBay I've ever seen in all of my years. Most of them.. well.. I don't even know quite what to say.. they're just.. "strange".

None of you said anything about nuts coming out of the woodwork towards the end..

kinda' scary.

well... looks like we were both kinda right. A reseller bought it...for $1200+$100 shipping. It may not be all that much higher than the reserve, but if you think about it, it's almost $13 a game the buyer is paying which is pretty high for a game lot. I was thinking you might get $1500, maybe up to $1800, but you still did good.

Totally.. fucking.. disgusted.

Some mofo throws up half the shit I have on eB (as in the auction I linked in my last reply); posts some half-lit, web-cam quality pictures and an auctionnhe threw together in 15 minutes.. and ends up getting MORE than I did.

I don't even think $100 is going to cover the shipping.. and no.. he didn't get them for 413 a piece either. look at all the fuckin' hardware he got.. a brand new PSOne with a boxed brand-new LCD screen, a first release model PSX.. fuck.. I can sell the fuckin' Pocketstation alone for $50!

I've had it with eBay and cheap fuckin' people. It doesn't even matter if I'm doing this for my mom.. no one fuckin' cares. My mom cried for me tonight when I told her what happened (just what she needs). She actually said she'd rather die, than see me lose 90 cents on the dollar of what's been my "passion", my blood, sweat & tears (6 fucking years of working at my piss-assed job and spending every penny of my extra money on fucking video games.. for what?).

Fuck everything and everyone. $1200 isn't shit.
