Just for grins, I did a quick search on my name on You Tube and found the old Fox News piece that was done in 2000 featuring Keith Robinson and myself.

If anyone cares, here's the link:

What really dates that clip is the laptop Robinson uses to show off the Intellivision Lives! collection.

You need to make a sequel. Maybe add the PS1 from the video to the retro collection.

Nice collection you got there.

There's been times i wouldn't mind going to the CGE.

Still i've been told it's boreing and not all that i don't know.

I know i like, playing old video games myself when i find current gaming to much for me.

Even afther.. i got the Wii i've spent more time playing the VC on it.

EGADS, from what year is that?

I almost fell off my chair seeing the 5200 controller and I assume 5200 Jr Pac-Man!

Thanks for all the comments. I'm pretty sure that video was from 2000. It was 5200 Jr. Pac and for those with a keen eye, I was also playing 5200 Tempest.

Unfortunately, i had to turn the upstairs into my son's bedroom so now my collection is currently sitting in boxes in my basement.

It'd be cool to see a 1hr special on TV on retro and classic game collectors.

There must be some fan produced documentaries like this, perhaps filmed at the Classic Gaming Expo (CGE)?

I would have no idea but I'm sure there are for that convention. I'm more leaning towards BBC and what not. Someone posted about the Tetris thing awhile back, same with Atari so why not have a nicely done doc about game collecting in general. Would be interesting and be exposed to a larger croud on TV than a game convention and posted on You Tube.

I suspected that was 5200 Tempest. I don't think I even knew it existed (I know it was an unfinished proto) in 2000.

I love how they use footage from "One" by ASC at the end. Now there was an all flash and not much substance game.

Sold like hotcakes in Japan though ;)

That was a cool piece.

It is good to see people standing up for what they believe in.

Nonsense.

Good games are good games no matter when they were released and when we played them.

Classic games have as much substance as games today but the way they immersed the player via gameplay was different and had to be different.

The big appeal today is certainly their simplicity of gamecontrol and straightforward challenge.

...but they were not "better," those little gems. In the last couple of weeks I played Top Spin 2 and Table Tennis, and dangit, are they refined and fantastic evolved Pongs.

Overall, gameplay value and lasting appeal increased over time.

I really enjoyed the video, haven't seen it before. It also demonstrates how much more "fashionable" and "mainstream" classic gaming has become in the last six years.
