When the GameCube was first released, what colors was it *immediately* available in at launch? Indigo, Silver, and Black? Or just Indigo?

Indigo and Black. Platinum was released just about a year after launch.
From what I remember, when it was first release it was just Indigo and around June 02 they released it in Black. Only reason I remember this was because of me rushing to get a GC because of the REmake.

exit you are absolutely correct, in the US Indigo was the only color available until the black one came out not too long before Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem came out.
Random trivia: Indigo became their launch color because the Atomic Purple N64 controller was the fastest selling color of any standalone N64 controller.

I still have my launch game cube and its black. In fact I probably have the receipt too if I have to prove it.

You guys are both incorrect. I got my Black launch day cube from the Wherehouse Music I worked at when the system came out. In fact I bought 4 Cubes that day, 2 Black and 2 Indigo. Sold the other 3 to my local Indy game store so they'd have something for their customers.

I got my black cube at launch.
Not to beat a dead horse, but I got a black cube at launch. Indigo and black baby! I eventually picked up a platinum cube, they should have launched with that color.

The black one is the only one I need for a complete US set! (yeah.. I'm sad).
What I've been looking to get is an imported Spice/Orange GC. I have no idea why but it just looks damn cool.

I really wish they released the Spice Cube in the US...Orange is my fave color.
And I also got a Black one at launch.

Yes, to the eternal confusion of people unaware that the entire console came in that color in Japan (including myself).

The reason you probably didn't see it was because I'm sure more people wanted the black one than the purple one.
I too got my black cube on launch day, sadly it never really got much use.

My wife bought me my GC for that Christmas... she originally bought an Indigo one because she COULD NOT find a black one anywhere, but a couple days before Christmas she ran across one, bought it, and returned the indigo. I love my wife!

Yes, I remember I bought mine at launch and I had to get the indigo because the black was sold out everywhere. Didn't mind much, only thing is now my gameboy player doesn't match my cube. Oh well.

Yes, it launched with both Indigo (purple) and Jet (black) colord systems, followed a few years later by Platnium.
In addition to the Japan-only Spice Gamecube, there was also supposed to be Gold Gamecube (Which looks better then the Platnium), and a Hot Pink Gamecube (That would have gone over well [/sarcasm])

I also got a Jet Black cube on launch day.
Also there were more than just Black, Indigo, Spice and Platinum in JP.
Off the top of my head there was Pearl White (Crystal Chronicals Bundle), Red (Gundam Bundle), Emerald (Tales of Symphonia Bundle), Gold (Gold Star Limited Edition - extremely limited), and a few more I know I'm missing.

I have the ugly indigo color so i went out today to buy a new platinum color Gamecube and only found one. I called all the EB, Gamestop's and Gamecrazy's around here and no one has new Gamecubes anymore there all gone.:grrr:
