From what I have heard, The expansion pack makes the games look better, But how much better? Does it do anything else? And If i'm playing the N64 on my HDTV in S Video with this accessory, Will the picture still give me a headache?

It only works for games programmed to take advantage of the extra RAM. Some games and some portions of some games won't work without it. For those that can take advantage of it, I normally notice an increase in polygons, not a decrease in the anti-aliasing messiness. Yes, it will still give you a headache.

I was just playing Star Wars Episode 1 racer the other day... if you have the expansion pak you can play in "high res" mode but it looks terrible...

Pretty much just a key for activating Perfect Dark, DK64 and Majora's Mask, if you ask me ;)

Beware: some games won't work if the expansion pak is installed... Space Station Silicon Valley by DMA is the main one I remember having that limitation.

Speaking of Perfect Dark some have recommended removing the pak so that the game's frame rate improves

If you remove the pack, all that you ahve access to is a very limited multiplayer function.

Question about this: If I put DK64 in a console without the expansion pak, should anything come up on the screen. I ask b/c Major's Mask gives a small dialogue that tells you that you must have the expansion to play. I'm asking b/c I am trying to figure out if the DK64 I have is defective or not.

Weird thing about the expansion pack: with games that are able to run with or without the expansion a lot of them have better frame rates/less slowdown without the expansion.. Don't know if this is because developers were asking too much of it or were just lazy with optimizing the expansion enabled mode.. Command & Conquer n64 comes to mind immediately when thinking about this problem.
